MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, April 23

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

headChopper: Jackson Merrill
stevietpfl: Jackson Merrill
Notorious: Ramon Laureano

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in large-field tournaments?

headChopper: Munetaka Murakami
stevietpfl: Kyle Schwarber
Notorious: Kevin McGonigle

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

headChopper: I prefer large-field, multi-entry tournaments. The difference I see in my lineups is pairing someone other than Tarik Skubal, Tyler Glasnow, or Logan Webb as my SP2, meaning I won’t have any lineups that feature two of those guys together. There are just so many good offensive spots that I think I’ll be spreading out my stacks and hoping the chalky stacks don’t go gangbusters.

stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on small-field contests. I think the pitching is straightforward. I like Tarik Skubal, Tyler Glasnow, Cristopher Sanchez, Michael Soroka, and JR Ritchie. Sanchez has to deal with good hitting conditions in Wrigley, and Ritchie has a low-strikeout matchup against Washington. It will lead me to being overweight on Skubal and Glasnow. I’m going to fade the Padres in my 3-5 lineups. I’ll be overweight on the Rockies, Braves, Tigers, and Diamondbacks.

Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. This is a tricky slate because it’s tough to stack Coors Field while also targeting Tarik Skubal. I can’t stomach a fade of Skubal in an elite matchup against the shorthanded Brewers, so I am going to get contrarian by stacking the Diamondbacks instead of the Padres, Rockies, and Braves. The Diamondbacks are at home against Davis Martin, who has a 5.11 xERA while giving up a .347 xwOBA since the start of last season.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
