MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, June 20
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
squirrelpatrol: Shohei Ohtani
headChopper: Teoscar Hernandez
Dean78904: Shohei Ohtani
ebeimfohr: Shohei Ohtani
Who is your top overall pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
squirrelpatrol: MacKenzie Gore – I’m a bit of a Washington homer, but Gore seems like a good young pitcher with a strong prospect pedigree who is improving faster than projections can account for. Gore has increased his K% from 25.9% last year to 28.3% this year while loweing his BB% from 9.8% to 7.2%. Washington is a -140 favorite in this game, and Gore has 17 Ks in just 12 IP over his past 2 starts.
headChopper: Seth Lugo – Pitching feels like a mess. Luis Gil is the most talented guy, but I don’t pick on Baltimore. Luis Castillo is great, but Cleveland is no joke either. Then there are a bunch of middle-tier guys. Lugo is the best of that bunch this season. His strikeouts are average, but he should get a slight boost in that department against an Oakland offense that could have 7 high-strikeout guys in the lineup. He doesn’t get himself into trouble with walks, and he’s been consistent this season. I’m not in love with any pitcher, but Lugo has the resume to be my No. 1 option.
Dean78904: MacKenzie Gore – Gore has the slate’s highest SwStr% (13.4%), lowest SIERA (3.27), and is only behind Luis Gil (30.4%) when it comes to K% (28.3%). Officially, I don’t really love any pitchers, but I am looking to try and get away from the presumed Spencer Arrighetti chalk. Gore isn’t a perfect choice, as Arizona is tough vs. LHP, but there are no perfect choices. We’re looking at a “beggars can’t be choosers” situation with our choice of starting pitchers.
ebeimfohr: Cole Irvin – Let’s get a little funky here. Irvin is never going to be your top pitcher by his profile alone. He’s mostly a ground-balling lefty, but the spot is intriguing, given the slate context. Aaron Judge is hurt, and last night against lefty Cade Povich, the Yankees had 4 lefties in their lineup. We should see a minimum of 3 lefties, maybe 4, and Irvin has a 23% K rate and an elite .197 wOBA allowed this season against lefties. It’s a far less formidable Yankees lineup without Judge, especially if you can mitigate their lefties, like Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo.
