MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, August 6th

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

CheeseIsGood: Pete Alonso
SquirrelPatrol: Francisco Lindor
Stevietpfl: Mark Vientos
boggslite: Francisco Lindor

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

CheeseIsGood: Sonny Gray – I expect that the three aces that I’m ending up on are also the three most popular with Gray, Pablo Lopez, and Luis Castillo. But with Gray being the most expensive pitcher on both sites, I think he is most likely among them to get a little bit of an ownership discount. Gray has the highest strikeout rate on this slate by a reasonable margin, and he also has the best strikeout matchup of any of the aces. The projected Tampa lineup has a silly eight of nine batters above 24% strikeouts, leaving Gray with more upside than anyone on this slate.

SquirrelPatrol: Shota Imanaga – Imanga has a projection that is competitive with Luis Castillo and Pablo Lopez, but he’s seeing a fraction of the pOWN% despite having the potential to be the highest-scoring pitcher on the slate. The sample size isn’t huge (23 games), but WeatherEdge is showing this game with a -29.9% decrease for HRs, and with the wind blowing in at Wrigley, but I can believe the sample. Imanga has allowed just a 3.6% BB% this season while striking out more than a batter an inning (9.13 K/9, 24.8% K%), and the Twins have just a 3.0 implied run total.

Stevietpfl: Sonny Gray – It’s going to be a revolving door of playing pitchers facing the Rays down the stretch. The projected starting lineup has a .176 ISO with a .317 wOBA and a 25.1% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. There is some power at the top of this lineup, but there are six hitters with strikeout rates over 24% this season. Gray has a 30.5% strikeout rate this season. This is a high-strikeout matchup, and he should have lower ownership than Lopez and Castillo.

boggslite: Luis Castillo – Near the top of our projections at SP, Castillo comes with a nice discount for this matchup against the Tigers at home in a pitcher-friendly park. Detroit’s lack of left-handed power helps Castillo, who should be able to reach his ceiling.
