MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, May 5

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

CheeseIsGood: Mike Trout
headChopper: Kyle Tucker
stevietpfl: Corbin Carroll
Dean78904: Kyle Tucker

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I prefer large-field tournaments tonight. This is a slate where I don’t have any really strong opinions or favorites on either the pitching or hitting sides. When my player pool is this spread out, with nothing that I love, I prefer to throw random darts in large-field tournaments. I will still play some single-entry tournaments, where I’ll prioritize spending up at pitcher and mostly focus on the Dodgers, Angels, and White Sox for my bats. But in MME, this is a great slate to just throw a bunch of nonsense at the wall and see what sticks.

headChopper: I am playing 1 lineup in small-field tournaments. It’s a large-enough slate with so many good pitching and hitting options that it won’t be hard to make a unique lineup. I’ll probably spend up at both pitcher spots on DK. I’ll more than likely stack all hitters in my DK lineup between two or three teams. On FD, I’ll spend up at pitcher and may go a less stacking-heavy route there, only using a small stack and filling the rest with one-offs while hunting for home runs.

stevietpfl: I will be building 3-5 lineups in small-field contests. It’s a slate with a lot of hitting options, but pitching is lacking. I’m going to be overweight on Gavin Williams, Shohei Ohtani, and Jacob deGrom. I’ll take some shots on Logan Webb, Jameson Taillon, and Eduardo Rodriguez. I don’t trust any pitcher on this slate, which leads to me spreading out my pitching exposure. I’m going to take a stand and be underweight on the Dodgers. I haven’t decided if I believe in Peter Lambert long term, but he’s not the same pitcher we saw in 2024. He’s added a cutter when he’s facing lefties, which has a 55.6% whiff rate. His changeup has a 41.2% whiff rate against lefties as well.

Dean78904: I focus mostly on single-entry and smaller-field contests. I just don’t love any offense, so I will first prioritize pitching. Specifically, Shohei Ohtani, and he just might land on every lineup I make. I will strongly consider spending up at both pitcher spots on DK and pairing him with one of Jacob deGrom, Gavin Williams, or Logan Webb. If I can’t quite get there salary-wise, I’ll look to Jameson Taillon, as Wrigley Field is expected to play pitcher-friendly tonight. My offense will have some combination of the Dodgers, Angels, Pirates, Diamondbacks, and White Sox. If I were to stray or am looking to get a little different, the Rangers are the next team up.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
