Happy Friday! We have a big 12-game slate tonight, although it could turn into an 11-game slate depending on what happens with the MLB weather in the PIT/BOS game. This is going to be very crucial to the slate since Paul Skenes is on the mound there, along with an intriguing prospect on the other side.

The pitching slate will be dependent on that game, while the hitting side is headlined by a bit of a quandary with the scuffling Cubs heading into Coors Field to face the nonsensical pitching of the Rockies. I can hardly wait! Let’s dive in and see what we find.

Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

Skenes of the Pirates

Whether we get Paul Skenes or not, there is no shortage of strong pitching on this slate, with 7 pitchers priced above $9,000 on both sites.

TOP TIER PITCHING

So, Lizzie The Dog woke me up at 4:00 in the morning, and then we were just up. I wrote the entire pitching section before getting the weather report. Turns out Kevin Roth is going to ruin my day. I am going to start by leaving the original write-up here, so you can see where things land if Paul Skenes is playable. I will add in some other notes here and there and then give the new updated thoughts in the cliff notes. But really, both Skenes and his opponent, Payton Tolle, are crucial enough to this slate that I don’t think you can make any real decisions at pitcher until we get a weather report closer to lock. It’s not just that it affects who you play, but whether you were playing Skenes or not, the ownership will move drastically depending on what happens there. I will be on Crunch Time tonight to give my final official thoughts on this situation if we don’t have more clarity before then. So, back to 4:00 AM, here we go…

Paul Skenes is a superstar and my SP1 on this slate if salary doesn’t matter. With that being said, he still doesn’t often post DFS scores that are so elite you can’t possibly win without them, so let’s see what else we find at lower salaries before deciding exactly what to do with him.

If you either don’t want to use Skenes or are spreading out in tournaments, we’ve got a group of Carlos Rodon, Shane Bieber, Blake Snell, and Freddy Peralta all somewhat bunched together in salary.
