Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Friday 7/10

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to muse about the July 10, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Friday! We have a humdinger of a 12-game slate. A humdinger has some subtle but meaningful differences from a barnburner. It seems like it would be harder to sort through a barnburner. Yeah, I change my mind – we have a barnburner of a 12-game slate. There are a ton of pitching options in all different price ranges, and we have a ton of offenses, both for stacking and power-hunting. We may even get some good old-fashioned Robbie Ray chalk. Whoo-wee, let’s dive right in!
Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

We have two top aces on the mound, with Chris Sale and Shohei Ohtani, but they are both priced up in matchups that are less than ideal. I’m going to use $8,500 on DK as the cut-off between tiers, leaving us with 7 top-tier pitchers before we get to the tangle of cheaper options.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Shohei Ohtani vs. Diamondbacks – 27.9% K, 7.6% BB, 1.79 ERA, 3.34 SIERA
- Chris Sale at Cardinals – 28.6% K, 6.1% BB, 2.27 ERA, 3.15 SIERA
- Hunter Brown at Rangers – 27.3% K, 13.3% BB, 3.38 ERA, 4.20 SIERA
- Nolan McLean vs. Red Sox – 28% K, 8.8% BB, 3.73 ERA, 3.50 SIERA
- Parker Messick at Marlins – 25.8% K, 7.6% BB, 2.80 ERA, 3.66 SIERA
- Sonny Gray at Mets – 22.8% K, 6.4% BB, 2.61 ERA, 3.76 SIERA
- Hunter Greene vs. Cubs – 2nd start of season
If every pitcher on this slate had the same salary and the same projected ownership, I suppose I would just play Shohei Ohtani and Chris Sale. They are the two best pitchers on this slate. They both are very consistent, have plenty of pitch-count leash, and have upside in every matchup. But at the same time, I’d say that this is a very deep pitching slate with a whole bunch of pretty good pitchers in better matchups at considerably cheaper salaries.
The reality here is that Chris Sale has reached 30 DK points in only 1 of his last 9 starts, and Shohei Ohtani has not reached 30 DK points in any of his last 7 starts. While 30 DK points is a pretty high bar – and they both have plenty of very solid starts – this strikes me as the kind of slate where I don’t want around 20-25 DK points for $11,000. They both have the types of matchups where 25 DK points seems like the more realistic ceiling. I’m not by any means out on them or telling you that they are bad plays – they are never bad plays – but I am saying let’s see what else we find on this slate before we get too locked in on the most-expensive options.
I have absolutely no interest in Hunter Brown, who has a 21.2% K rate with 12.9% walks in his 4 starts since coming off the IL. I’m sure he’ll get it together, but I need to see it first before I play him on this kind of slate.
Nolan McLean is where it starts to get interesting.
