Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks for Friday, June 21st

CheeseIsGood, a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Friday! We’ve got a very interesting 10-game slate that is giving us a bunch of everything. We are back at Coors Field, but it’s two weaker offenses that make it less of a standout than when the Dodgers were in town. On the pitching side, we have quite a few aces, but most of them are in tougher matchups, which also means most of the better offenses are facing good pitchers. This leaves us with quite a few options on both sides of the ledger, so let’s dig in and see what we find.
Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

There is a lot of good pitching, but as you’ll see, the matchups are making this a lot more difficult. I’ll sort into two tiers based on the pricing, with everyone above $8,000 on DK in tier one and then a handful of cheaper options below that.
EIGHT OR SO ACES
Chris Sale at Yankees – 30.7% K, 4% BB, 2.98 ERA, 2.57 SIERA
Dylan Cease vs. Brewers – 29.9% K, 7.3% BB, 3.95 ERA, 3.19 SIERA
Carlos Rodon vs. Braves – 23.1% K, 6.6% BB, 3.28 ERA, 3.93 SIERA
George Kirby at Marlins – 24% K, 2.6% BB, 3.54 ERA. 3.29 SIERA
Grayson Rodriguez at Astros – 26.2% K, 7.8% BB, 3.20 ERA, 3.60 SIERA
Kutter Crawford at Reds – 24.6% K, 7.3% BB, 3.54 ERA, 3.75 SIERA
Nathan Eovaldi vs. Royals – 26% K, 9.8% BB, 3.15 ERA, 3.69 SIERA
Chris Paddack at A’s – 20.8% K, 4.7% BB, 5.25 ERA, 3.88 SIERA
We’ve got quite a few good pitchers, but most of them have tough matchups that add risk to their profile. The notable exception is George Kirby going into Miami. Kirby doesn’t have the same type of strikeout ability as guys like Sale and Cease, but he makes up for it with his efficiency and elite control. Going into a pitchers park against a team that ranks 28th in ISO and 29th in wOBA against RHP is enough for me to call him the SP1 on this slate, certainly in cash games. I don’t feel the need to go out of my way to chase a slightly higher ceiling with more risk.
Now, if you do want to chase that higher ceiling with more risk, which I’ll certainly do in my MME builds…
