Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Sunday 4/12

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the April 12, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Sunday! We’ve got a big 11-game slate on both sites that is filled with good pitching options in all price ranges. While the hitting side is also loaded with strong options, it is headlined by a massive total in Wrigley Field with wind whipping out to left field. I’ll try to find some pivots off that obvious chalk, but it’s going to be tough to avoid that one.
Sunday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

TOP TIER PITCHING
We’ve got a pretty good looking pitching slate today with high-end aces down to solid mid-tier and cheaper pitchers in good matchups. I’ll sort into these two tiers based on DK pricing.
- Tarik Skubal vs. Marlins – 31.4% K, 4.3 % BB, 2.24 ERA, 2.74 SIERA
- Brandon Woodruff vs. Nationals – 30.7% K, 5.3% BB, 3.58 ERA, 3.02 SIERA
- Sandy Alcantara at Tigers – 19.3% K, 7.3% BB, 4.79 ERA, 4.29 SIERA
- Freddy Peralta vs. A’s – 28.3% K, 9% BB, 2.86 ERA, 3.61 SIERA
- Cam Schlittler at Rays – 29.3% K, 8.6% BB, 2.71 ERA, 3.39 SIERA
- Jose Soriano at Reds – 21.8% K, 10.6% BB, 3.86 ERA, 3.81 SIERA
Over the long run, Tarik Skubal is in a tier of his own with his consistently elite skill set. But over the short run (meaning 3 starts in 2026), he is just another pretty good pitcher who should not be the highest-priced pitcher on this slate. He has an average 22.5% K rate, and he is just living on his elite control. His velocity and Stuff+ are as good or better than they were every year of his career prior to 2025, which would imply he should still be something like a 30% strikeout pitcher. I think he’s fine and would expect him to be back to normal any day now (probably today). But I can also say there’s no way anyone can possibly know that for sure, while his salary and likely his ownership require it to happen to be worth it. He’s certainly still the raw points SP1 here, and if I have the salary, I’m not going to fade him based on either the slower start or the ownership. But I am also just skeptical enough that I don’t see it as any kind of necessity to get up to him today, and I doubt he’ll be in my primary lineups.
Brandon Woodruff is in the same boat as Skubal, though you could argue there are some slightly bigger concerns here. Similar to Skubal, his strikeouts are down at an average 21.7% through 2 starts, and his control his still excellent. The potential red flag here in assuming he gets back to the 30% strikeouts is that his velocity is at a career-low 92.3 mph. Prior to his shoulder injury that caused him to miss all of 2024 and part of 2025, he was in the 96 mph range. When he came back last year, he was at 93.1 mph. He was still fantastic with a 32.3% K rate, so perhaps he can still be elite at that level, but it does give me pause to see it down more to go along with a drop in swinging strikes. Even last season in those 12 great starts, his 12.2% swinging strike rate tells me he was probably never going to maintain a 32.3% K rate. I still think he’s very good, and he very well might end up back around the 30% K range, but more so than with Skubal, I want to see some improvements first. Even with the good matchup here, I don’t think I’m playing Woodruff at this salary.
