Million Dollar Musings: Thursday, August 10

CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Thursday! We’ve got a slow day with two smaller 4-game slates, the first at 12:35pm ET, followed by another at 6:40pm ET. Be sure to note the unusual start times for both. Any time we have these smaller slates, everything is going to be playable, but I’ll walk through both of them and see if we can spot some favorite MLB DFS picks.
We’ve also got at least moderate weather concerns on both slates, with three games that will require checking back closer to lock. For now, I’m just including everything as if it plays cleanly, but it does sound like the most likely delay would be tonight in the Aaron Nola start in Philadelphia.
Thursday Early Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

We have one fairly obvious top pitcher, and then everyone on this slate, outside of Bailey Falter, is viable for MME.
Kenta Maeda at Tigers – 29.6% K, 6.6% BB, 4.22 ERA, 3.52 SIERA
Hunter Brown at Orioles – 26.5% K, 7.8% BB, 4.07 ERA, 3.61 SIERA
Bryce Elder at Pirates – 17.6% K, 7.6% BB, 3.43 ERA, 4.56 SIERA
Alek Manoah at Guardians – 18.4% K, 14.1% BB, 5.72 ERA, 5.70 SIERA
Dean Kremer vs. Astros – 21.7% K, 7.3% BB, 4.61 ERA, 4.40 SIERA
Reese Olson vs. Twins – 21.9% K, 5.7% BB, 4.94 ERA, 4.05 SIERA
Noah Syndergaard vs. Blue Jays – 14% K, 3.8% BB, 6.75 ERA, 4.95 SIERA

We should have clear chalk on this early slate, with Kenta Maeda against the Tigers. He has the best skill set with far-and-away the highest strikeout rate, plus he has the good matchup against a high-strikeout opponent. Even his pitch count has been a little better recently, averaging 90 over his last three starts. Without factoring in ownership, Maeda is the clear SP1. Personally, I’ll be overweight on DK, where it’s tough to find two good pivots. On FD, I’m only fading him for salary needs, so basically for Braves or Astros stacks.
