MLB DFS Picks: Top Stacks for Friday, May 9th

Opto% Stack

LA Dodgers at Eduardo Rodriguez

The Dodgers are an enticing MLB DFS stack today against Eduardo Rodriguez, making a compelling case due to their top ranking in optimal stack rate and best stack rating, coupled with the fourth-best Value% in our projection. With an implied run total of 4.82 runs, the Dodgers are poised to perform strongly even if the matchup seems tougher than others.

Although Rodriguez is a solid pitcher, he isn’t impervious to offensive surges, and historically the Dodgers have excelled against LHP. While injuries to Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman may slightly diminish their overall power, the presence of players like Will Smith and Shohei Ohtani still offers offensive firepower.

Their exceptional splits against LHP make them key assets for today’s lineup. Although the Padres and Yankees might draw more attention due to presumably better matchups, the Dodgers’ potential to thrive in low ownership scenarios makes them an appealing choice for a full-stack strategy.

Opto% Stack

San Diego Padres at Antonio Senzatela

The Padres are an attractive MLB DFS stack against Antonio Senzatela, with the 2nd-best optimal stack rate and the 3rd-best stack rating in our projections, alongside an impressive implied run total of 6.46. Playing at Coors Field adds to their appeal, and given the Rockies’ struggling state, it’s a prime opportunity for San Diego’s lineup to excel.

The Rockies’ pitching staff, weakened by recent games, faces a solid Padres lineup. Fernando Tatis, with a .467 wOBA and 1.085 OPS against right-handed pitchers, is expected to lead the charge. Additionally, the return of Jackson Merrill, alongside Jake Cronenworth and the steady contact of Luis Arraez, strengthens the lineup. Manny Machado’s power potential boosts this stack’s upside.

Overall, this matchup against a low-strikeout pitcher like Senzatela seems favorable, positioning the Padres for a potentially explosive offensive performance.
