Pitcher Grind Down
- Dan Haren – Haren has struggled a bit on the year and has a 4.23 ERA to show for it. He is rarely going past the 6th inning (1 time in his last 9 starts) and has a career low K rate of 6.55 K/9. Due to his low K rate and recent struggles, he is not in play today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7200 FD, $NA DS, $13100 DD, $6700 DK, $NA FF, $18700 SS, $NA FTD
- Lance Lynn – Lynn has pitched well on the year with a 3.14 ERA and 10-6 record. He has a decent 7.93 K/9, but is facing a Dodgers team who has the 4th highest wOBA in the league agaist RH pitching (.329) and just got rocked by them at the end of June (2 innings, 6 earned runs). He is a favorite and should get some run support which helps his value today. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7800 FD, $ DS, $15500 DD, $8900 DK, $ FF, $21000 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
LA Dodgers
Yasiel Puig – He is a stud and is looking to continue is great first half the season. He is hitting .309 overall with 12 home runs. He has a wOBA of .412 against righties this year and makes a decent play against Lynn today.
Additional Plays: Adrian Gonzalez Carl Crawford
St. Louis
Matt Adams – We are going to start right where we left off before break. Cardinals facing a subpar righty makes Adams in play every time. He is hitting righties for a .364 AVG and .576 SLG on the year.
Additional Plays: Matt Holliday Matt Carpenter Allen Craig

Pitcher Grind Down
- Edwin Jackson – Jackson has been an easy avoid all season long. He has a 5.64 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP this year. He now has to go into Arizona as an underdog in a game with the highest total (9) on the night. Avoid him. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6000 FD, $NA DS, $11350 DD, $6500 DK, $NA FF, $14500 SS, $NA FTD
- Trevor Cahill – Cahill has only made 4 starts this year and in 19 appearances has a 5.66 ERA and 1.74 WHIP. Regardless of how he is pitching or the matchup, he will most likely not make it past the 4th or 5th innings tonight. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5100 FD, $ DS, $9750 DD, $5900 DK, $ FF, $13000 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Chicago Cubs
Anthony Rizzo – Rizzo is the backbone of this Cubs squad and had a really good first half of the season. Cahill has allowed a wOBA of .428 to LH bats this year and Rizzo has hit righties well. He is a great play tonight.
Additional Plays: Luis Valbuena Arismendy Alcantara
Arizona Miguel Montero – Jackson has really struggled against LH batters this year (wOBA of .395). This sets up perfect for Montero to be one of the top catching options on the night as he has hit RH pitching for a .296 AVG this year.
Additional Plays: Paul Goldschmidt Ender Inciarte David Peralta Gerardo Parra

Pitcher Grind Down
- Chris Tillman – Tillman has been an average pitcher all season long. He has a 4.11 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP on the year and comes into tonight with a very tough matchup against the high-powered Oakland offense. He is a big underdog and should be avoided tonight. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6000 FD, $NA DS, $11250 DD, $6200 DK, $NA FF, $14700 SS, $NA FTD
- Jeff Samardzija – The Shark has been good in his first two starts since joining the A’s. He has allowed 4 earned runs and 10 strikeouts in 15 innings. The K’s should increase a bit and Samardzija should have a great second half of the season. With that said, he does have a tough matchup tonight against the Orioles. I still see him as a great play though due to his low price across the industry. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8100 FD, $ DS, $17250 DD, $8600 DK, $ FF, $24400 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Baltimore
Chris Davis – We will quickly see if the second half of the season can bring back last year’s Crush Davis. He is so cheap that he makes a tremendous GPP option today.
Additional Plays: Nelson Cruz
Oakland
Brandon Moss – There are so many good first base options today that you will have to really find which one you like best and which salary fits. Moss will be nice to use on sites where he is OF eligible today as he has a great matchup against Tillman. Moss has a wOBA of .382 against RH pitching and a SLG of .548.
Additional Plays: John Jaso Steven Vogt Coco Crisp

Pitcher Grind Down
- Hisashi Iwakuma – After a rough 2 game stretch, Iwakuma bounced back in his last 3 starts before the break to allow 3 earned runs combined in 21.2 innings pitched. In that span, he was also able to strikeout 25 batters. He will look to continue this success against a good Angels squad. In his career, Iwakuma has dominated the Angels. In 6 starts he is 5-0 and has a 1.49 ERA. His price is getting high and due to the matchup I will be using other guys at his price point today. He could still throw a gem though. Rating = 7
Salaries: $9000 FD, $NA DS, $18550 DD, $9800 DK, $NA FF, $28200 SS, $NA FTD
- Jered Weaver – Weaver has been decent on the season and brings his 3.45 ERA into a good matchup against the Mariners. Weaver has struggled a bit against this Mariners squad (6 earned runs in 2 starts), but is a small favorite today. I think the win will be very tough to get against Iwakuma, which depresses his value. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7400 FD, $ DS, $14800 DD, $8400 DK, $ FF, $21700 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Seattle
Robinson Cano – I am expecting a big second half of the season for Cano. He has hit Weaver real well in his career going 13/36.
Additional Plays: Kyle Seager
LA Angels
The Angels bats are very high priced right now and Iwakuma could throw a shutout tonight. Due to their price I will be avoiding the bats in cash games.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Bartolo Colon – Colon was going to have to come down to Earth eventually. In his last 3 starts he gave up 13 earned runs, but did continue to pitch deep into games. Tonight, he has the best matchup on the board against the Padres, at Petco. This puts him in play automatically and his price makes him a very good play as well. Rating = 7
Salaries: $7600 FD, $NA DS, $14900 DD, $7300 DK, $NA FF, $21600 SS, $NA FTD
- Ian Kennedy – Kennedy’s home ERA is slowly coming down and should continue tonight against the Mets. He has pitched well overall on the year with a 3.47 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He has a very good 9.63 K/9 which will be helped by the fact that the Mets have the 7th most strikeouts in the league. Kennedy is a favorite today in a game with a 6’ total. He makes a great play for his price point. Rating = 8
Salaries: $7700 FD, $ DS, $15700 DD, $8600 DK, $ FF, $25200 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY MetsThe Mets bats can be avoided today as I think Kennedy throws a nice game tonight.
San Diego
With so many options, the Padres can be avoided at Petco.
