Pitcher Grind Down
- Wily Peralta – Peralta has exceeded expectations this season, but there is very little reason to consider starting him at Coors Field against this Rockies team that crushes baseballs at home. In his only other visit to Denver, Peralta failed to make it out of the fourth inning before giving up 8 runs. Rating = 3
Salaries: $7100 FD, $14120 DS, $14150 DD, $NA DK, $91000 FF, $21400 SS, $14150 FTD
- Christian Friedrich – Friedrich was absolutely inialated in his last start at Colorado Springs, giving up 7 earned runs on 11 hits in just 5.1 innings. His AAA ERA has risen to 7.93 and now he’ll be tasked with pitching against a Milwaukee team loaded with lefty killers at Coors Field. Stay far, far away. Rating = 1
Salaries: $4600 FD, $10552 DS, $8450 DD, $ DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Milwaukee
Aramis Ramirez – You definitely want so exposure to the Brewers today and Ramirez is perhaps the best value on the board. He had three hits and three RBI’s last night and is notorious for destroying left-handed pitching. The Brew Crew should rack up runs in bunches today and he’ll find himself right in the heart of the order.
Additional Plays: Jonathan Lucroy, Khris Davis, Carlos Gomez, Ryan Braun, Jean Segura
Colorado
Troy Tulowitzki – What he’s doing this season at Coors Field is insane as he’s hitting .487 at home through 111 AB’s. He’s head and shoulders above the competition at shortstop and should be faded in cash games at your own risk.
Additional Plays: Charlie Blackmon, Justin Morneau, Corey Dickerson

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jacob deGrom – deGrom was impressive in his first few starts, but things have turned ugly on him recently. He was punished by the Cardinals in his last start and sports a rather unslightly 6.75 ERA and 1.73 WHIP over his last four starts. He’s struggled on the road and will take on a Miami team that really plays well in South Florida. His decent strikeout rate makes his a viable GPP option if the price is right, but there are better cash game options. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5600 FD, $12443 DS, $10900 DD, $NA DK, $54800 FF, $17600 SS, $10900 FTD
- Tom Koehler – Koehler brings a 3.84 ERA into today’s game against a Mets team that ranks 28th in MLB in OPS versus right-handed pitching. He’s been fantastic at Marlins Park all season, posting a 3-2 record and a 3.13 ERA in seven home starts. He dominated this Mets team the last time they faced, tossing 8 shutout innings while only allowing a pair of hits. With that said, he’s been in a bit of a funk lately (6.61 ERA in June) and his ceiling is somewhat limited by his marginal strikeout potential. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5800 FD, $13661 DS, $12950 DD, $ DK, $69900 FF, $17300 SS, $12950 FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY Mets
David Wright – Koehler has been very tough on left-handed batters, so if you’re picking on him you’ll want to do it from the right side of the plate where opposing hitters have a .354 wOBA against him this season. Wright is riding a five game hitting streak and has RBI’s in four straight.
Additional Plays: None
Miami
Giancarlo Stanton – Stanton is a beast and is always a solid fantasy option, but he’s been particularly strong at Marlins Park where he sports a 1.020 OPS on the season. deGrom is coming off the worst performance of his season and has struggled on the road all season, so Stanton could be in for a big night.
Additional Plays: Casey McGehee, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Marcell Ozuna

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jake Buchanan – With Brad Peacock scratched, the Astros have called up Buchanan to make his MLB debut today. From his AAA numbers he appears to be a pitch-to-contact type pitcher that looks to force as many ground balls as possible. The Rays offense has struggled, but i’m not inclined to use Buchanan here. Rating = 2.5
Salaries: $ FD, $NA DS, $NA DD, $NA DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Jake Odorizzi – After a somewhat shaky start to the season, Odorizzi has rounded into form quite nicely lately. Over his last eight starts he owns a 3.38 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 55 strikeouts in just 42.2 innings. He’ll do battle with a very strikeout prone Houston team today at Tropicana Field, where he owns a very solid 3.16 ERA on the season. His strikeout potential makes him a strong GPP target and the favorable home matchup certainly puts him in play in cash games as well. Rating = 6.5
Salaries: $5700 FD, $14215 DS, $13500 DD, $ DK, $68200 FF, $19100 SS, $12850 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Houston
George Springer – Springer went yard again last night and now owns a 1.023 OPS this season on the road.
Additional Plays: Jason Castro, Jon Singleton
Tampa Bay
Matt Joyce – Matt Joyce makes a living off of right-handed pitching and should fine himself right int he teeth of this Rays lineup against this rookie right-hander. He’s been far more successful at Tropicana Field this season (.313 average) and can still be rostered at a value price.
Additional Plays: James Loney, Evan Longoria, Ben Zobrist

Pitcher Grind Down
- J.A. Happ – Happ pitched quite well in his last start, allowing just one run over six innings in Camden Yards against the Orioles. He’s been very solid on the road this year, posting a 4-0 record and 3.38 ERA. The Cincinnati Reds rank near the bottom of MLB in OPS versus left-handed pitching, but I’m not quite ready to trust Happ in cash games. Rating = 4.5
Salaries: $6200 FD, $10964 DS, $11550 DD, $NA DK, $76300 FF, $15500 SS, $11550 FTD
- Mike Leake – After a nice start to the season, things have turned ugly for Leake lately. In his three starts this month he owns an unsightly 8.22 ERA and opposing hitters are hitting .377 off of him. Things get very tough for him today with the highest scoring team in MLB, the Toronto Blue Jays, coming to Cincinnati. The Blue Jays rank right near the top of MLB in wOBA against righties making Leake a very risky option today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6800 FD, $11819 DS, $12050 DD, $ DK, $75200 FF, $18200 SS, $12050 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Toronto
Jose Reyes – Lefties own a .363 wOBA against Leake this season and Reyes has been far better against right-handed pitching. He’s can rack up points in a variety of ways and is starting to run the bases more agressively (15 steals since May 1st)
Additional Plays: Edwin Encarnacion, Jose Bautista, Melky Cabrera
Cincinnati
Todd Frazier – Frazier owns a .998 OPS against left-handed pitching this season and is locked in at the plate right now. He’s hitting .311 during the month of June and owns a .996 OPS at the Great American Ballpark.
Additional Plays: Billy Hamilton, Brandon Phillips, Devin Mesoraco, Joey Votto

Pitcher Grind Down
- Cole Hamels – Hamels is in a groove and hasn’t allowed a single run in any of his last three starts. He’s lowered his ERA to 2.73 on the season, but has only managed to record two wins in 11 starts. With Adam Wainwright on the hill for the Cardinals, getting a “W” today certainly won’t be easy. However, the Cardinals rank near the bottom of MLB in wOBA versus left-handed pitching and Hamels is more than capable of shutting them down. Rating = 7.5
Salaries: $8900 FD, $20711 DS, $17950 DD, $NA DK, $110400 FF, $29200 SS, $17950 FTD
- Adam Wainwright – Wainwright was forced out of his scheduled start on Monday with an elbow injury, but has been cleared to start today. He’ll bring a sparkling 9-3 record, 2.15 ERA and .93 WHIP into today’s game against a Phillies team that owns just a .293 wOBA versus righties. Waino owns a 2.73 ERA and 56-33 record in his career at Busch Stadium and is my top pitching option of the day. The elbow injury is a slight concern and the only thing holding him back from a higher rating here. Rating = 8
Salaries: $10800 FD, $23778 DS, $20950 DD, $ DK, $122400 FF, $30500 SS, $22500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
This game has an over/under of just 6.5 and both of these pitchers can be dominant, I won’t be targeting any hitters from this game.
