Pitcher Grind Down
- Vidal Nuno – The switch to the NL was good for Nuno in his first start. He went 7 innings with 7 strike outs against the Marlins. He gets another decent matchup at San Francisco. He does bring his season long ERA of 4.98 into this start. He is the biggest underdog on the day and should mostly be avoided. If cheap, I could see him being a long shot, GPP play. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5700 FD, $11926 DS, $11750 DD, $5900 DK, $54600 FF, $15200 SS, $11750 FTD
- Madison Bumgarner – Bumgarner is on the worst stretch of the year by far. In his last 3 starts, he has given up 15 earned runs and 32 baserunners. He has a good matchup against the Diamondbacks, and is the biggest favorite on the board. The recent struggles hold me back from throwing him in all my cash games, but he should be one of the safer plays today. Rating = 8
Salaries: $8800 FD, $19999 DS, $16850 DD, $9500 DK, $89800 FF, $26700 SS, $17150 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Arizona
Paul Goldschmidt – He is in play against any LH pitcher this year. He has an overall .393 AVG and 1.105 OPS against lefties.
San Francisco
Hunter Pence – Usually against a lefty, Posey would get this spot. Due to his recent struggles, he does not get top play billing. Pence is batting .347 against lefties on the year and is playing well recently (10/29, 3 extra base hits in last 7 games).
Additional Plays: Buster Posey Michael Morse

Pitcher Grind Down
- Sonny Gray – Gray has been a great starter for the A’s in the first half on the year. He has a 2.97 ERA and a 9-3 record for the season. His K rate of 7.86 K/9 is respectable and he has a great matchup against the Mariners. Gray makes a great option on sites where his price is not to the elite pitchers. Rating = 8
Salaries: $8900 FD, $18620 DS, $17800 DD, $8400 DK, $106200 FF, $24300 SS, $15650 FTD
- Chris Young – Chris Young continues to defy the odds this year and put up a 3.08 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. He is on a nice pitching streak recently while allowing only 6 earned runs in his last 5 games. I continue to think he will struggle every time he throws, and have a tough time to start him against a good offense of the A’s. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6400 FD, $15421 DS, $14200 DD, $6500 DK, $91800 FF, $20500 SS, $14200 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Oakland
Brandon Moss – Moss wants to end this first half of the season with a bang today. He will look to add to his 20 home runs this year and 17 have come off RH pitching.
Additional Plays: John Jaso Stephen Vogt Yoenis Cespedes
Seattle
Robinson Cano – Cano crushes RH pitching and is always a good option at the 2nd base position. He is mashing righties for .350 on the year and is hot at the moment (13/28 in the last 7 games).

Pitcher Grind Down
- Phil Hughes – Hughes is really tough to read at the moment. He had a 3 game stretch of giving up 17 earned runs, but bounced back with a 7 inning, shutout performance against the Mariners. I don’t think we have to make the choice of playing him or not, due to the Coors factor today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7400 FD, $15005 DS, $14100 DD, $8900 DK, $98100 FF, $22800 SS, $14100 FTD
- Brett Anderson – Anderson has not started or pitched in an MLB game since April 12th. He was pitching well in the first 3 starts, but is an easy avoid in Coors after a 3 month lay off. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5000 FD, $13130 DS, $6800 DD, $6100 DK, $62200 FF, $13600 SS, $6800 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Minnesota
Brian Dozier – Against a LH pitcher, Dozier makes a great option. He has a SLG of .526 against lefties and will look to add to his 16 home run total on the year.
Additional Plays: Kendrys Morales Eduardo Escobar Josh Willingham Trevor Plouffe
Colorado
Troy Tulowitzki – Hughes has struggled a bit more against righties this year. He has allowed RH batters a wOBA of .347 on the season. Tulo has not come through recently, and today should be the day he bounces back.
Additional Plays: Charlie Blackmon Willin Rosario Justin Morneau Carlos Gonzalez

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tyson Ross – Ross has an overall ERA on the year of 2.93. He has been much better at home where his ERA is 2 runs less than away from Petco. He takes on a tough Dodger squad today, but one without Hanley who has only managed 6 runs in the first 3 games of this series. He makes a great cheap play today. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7400 FD, $19302 DS, $16250 DD, $8500 DK, $108200 FF, $25200 SS, $15950 FTD
- Hyun-Jin Ryu – Ryu is coming off a terrible performance against the Tigers where he allowed 7 earned runs and only went 2.1 innings. He now has the best matchup on the board against the Padres who he has dominated this year. In his 2 starts against them, he has allowed 1 earned run in 13 innings with 9 K’s. He is the top cheap option on the board today. Rating = 8
Salaries: $7700 FD, $18430 DS, $14650 DD, $8700 DK, $72800 FF, $23600 SS, $13100 FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Diego
I think that Ryu shuts this offense down today. Avoid the bats.
LA Dodgers
Dee Gordon – A whole lot of runs may not be scored in this game, but Gordon can manufacture points in so many ways that I think he makes a decent play today against Ross.
Additional Plays: Adrian Gonzalez

Pitcher Grind Down
- Chase Whitley – Whitley recently came out of the bullpen to pitch a few days ago, but will rejoin the rotation for a start against the Orioles. He has a 4.94 ERA after 10 starts this year and a 1.45 WHIP. He is an easy avoid today against the big bats of Baltimore. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5000 FD, $2631 DS, $9600 DD, $5700 DK, $NA FF, $13000 SS, $NA FTD
- Kevin Gausman – Gausman has been up and down on the year. He has 6 starts and has given up 5 earned runs in 2 of them, while giving up 1 or less in the other 4. He has a tough matchup today against the Yankees, but is a decent favorite. He could be a GPP flier, but I would avoid. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5900 FD, $ DS, $12000 DD, $6200 DK, $77100 FF, $17000 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY Yankees
Jacoby Ellsbury – Ellsbury makes a great play against Gausmen and the Orioles today. He has 2 home runs in his last 7 games to go along with 2 stolen bases. He could rack up the points tonight.
Additional Plays: Brian McCann Mark Teixeira Brett Gardner
Baltimore
Chris Davis – He may be a very good GPP play, but a GPP play only. He has struggled so much recently, but the home run potential is always there.
Additional Plays: Adam Jones Nelson Cruz Nick Markakis
