Pitcher Grind Down
- Chris Young – Young has really pitched above his means this year and has a 3.15 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. He has a very tough matchup against the Angels today and his low 5.09 K/9 really depresses his overall value. He is too difficult for me to trust in any format today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6400 FD, $NA DS, $13850 DD, $6400 DK, $95500 FF, $18200 SS, $13850 FTD
- Tyler Skaggs – Skaggs has been very up and down this year and has a 4.50 ERA. He comes into a great matchup against the Mariners and their lefty heavy lineup who are 29th in the league in team wOBA against lefties. Skaggs is a big favorite and could make a long shot GPP option today. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6200 FD, $ DS, $13050 DD, $7000 DK, $65100 FF, $18000 SS, $13050 FTD

Seattle
Robinson Cano – Cano makes a great play even with the L/L matchup today. Cano is hitting lefties for a .307 AVG and should be able to get on base against the young lefty today.
Additional Plays: Kyle Seager
LA Angels
Kole Calhoun – He was everyone’s favorite play for a bit and has returned from the break to go 1/12 in two decent matchups. He will look to bounce back today against Young as Calhoun has a wOBA of .378 against RH pitching. I expect a lot of runs to be scored by the Angels today and Calhoun should be able to get them going.
Additional Plays: Josh Hamilton Mike Trout Howie Kendrick

Pitcher Grind Down
- Kevin Gausman – Gausman has pitched very well in his first 7 starts this year. He has allowed 1 earned runs or less in 5 of those starts and will now be allowed to pitch without an innings cap in the second half of the season. He starts his second half with a very tough matchup against the A’s. These games have each had under 8 totals, yet runs have been scored at will by these two offenses. Gausman is cheap, which should make for a great long-shot GPP play, but is risky. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5900 FD, $NA DS, $12750 DD, $6800 DK, $72000 FF, $17400 SS, $12750 FTD
- Sonny Gray – Gray had a really good first half the season. He has a 2.79 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP, while striking out 108 batters in route to a 10-3 record. He does have a tough matchup against the Orioles who roughed him up for 5 earned runs in early June. He is a large favorite, but the matchup depresses his value a bit here. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8900 FD, $ DS, $18300 DD, $8800 DK, $115500 FF, $26400 SS, $18300 FTD

Baltimore
Chris Davis – Will we see a new, refreshed Chris Davis now? We have been waiting all year and maybe the All-Star break is what he needed. He has 3 hits, including a double and a home run in his 2 games back and hopefully can continue this for the rest of the season. He is still cheap and makes a great GPP play.
Additional Plays: Nelson Cruz
Oakland
Brandon Moss – Moss went yard yesterday against a lefty and now has his favorite L/R matchup to work with today. Moss has a wOBA of .378 against RH pitching as well as 18 of his 22 home runs.
Additional Plays: John Jaso Stephen Vogt* Coco Crisp

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jake Arrieta – Arrieta may be the Ace for the Cubs now after the trade. He is pitching like one with a 1.95 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP on the season. He does have to take his great stats into Chase Field, but I think he should be able to shut this Diamondbacks offense down today. He makes a great mid-tier option. Rating = 7
Salaries: $7600 FD, $NA DS, $17400 DD, $9500 DK, $118700 FF, $27700 SS, $17400 FTD
- Josh Collmenter – Collmenter has been very good at Chase Field this year. In 9 starts at home, he has a 3.13 ERA and a 5-2 record. Even without the big names pitching, this matchup sports a 7’ total in a hitter friendly park. This has a lot to do with poor offenses and decent pitching. Collmenter is cheap, making him a decent GPP play. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6800 FD, $ DS, $11100 DD, $6400 DK, $76800 FF, $15500 SS, $11100 FTD

Chicago Cubs
Anthony Rizzo – The Cubs best player is becoming one of the best players in the league. Collmenter is allowing a wOBA of .329 to lefties and Rizzo is locked in at the moment.
Arizona
As surprising as it is, I think Arrieta pitches very well today against the Dbacks and do not recommend any hitters.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Zack Wheeler – Wheeler really had a great stretch prior to the break. In his last 3 games, Wheeler allowed only 3 earned runs while striking out 14 batters in 19 innings. Wheeler has great strikeout potential and has the best matchup on the board today against the Padres in Petco. He makes a great play today. Rating = 7
Salaries: $7200 FD, $NA DS, $13500 DD, $7700 DK, $72800 FF, $22900 SS, $13500 FTD
- Odrisamer Despaigne – Despaigne has only had 4 starts this season, but has impressed in each one. He has only allowed 4 earned runs in those starts while going at least 6 innings in each. His strikeout numbers should look more like the 7 K’s he had in his previous start, which will really boost his fantasy value. He has a great matchup against the Mets who were just shut down by Ross last night. He makes a great option on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 7
Salaries: $5500 FD, $ DS, $12850 DD, $7000 DK, $84600 FF, $21700 SS, $ FTD

NY Mets
Unless you are trying a long shot GPP play today, avoid the bats.
San Diego
Wheeler should be able to shut down this offense and the game should end 3-1. Avoid the bats.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Clayton Kershaw – Kershaw is easily the top option today against the Cardinals. He is the best pitcher on the board and has a matchup against the Cards who are in the middle of the league in team wOBA against lefties (.313). Kershaw has unbelievable numbers this year with a 1.78 ERA and 0.83 WHIP. His 11-2 record is backed up by fantasy goodness with a 11.77 K/9 rate as well as only allowing a .191 BAA. He is the top option if you have the salary to pay up for him. Rating = 10
Salaries: $12100 FD, $NA DS, $23600 DD, $13200 DK, $170000 FF, $33000 SS, $NA FTD
- Carlos Martinez – Martinez has now made 6 starts since joining the rotation and has an overall 4.43 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. He has not pitched passed the 6th inning, nor has he pitched more than 88 pitches in a start. He has no fantasy value today. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5900 FD, $ DS, $8350 DD, $5600 DK, $52000 FF, $13400 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
LA Dodgers
Adrian Gonzalez – Lefties are mashing Martinez for a wOBA of .400 and a SLG of .523. Gonzo should have plenty of RBI opportunities today and makes a great first base option.
Additional Plays: Dee Gordon Carl Crawford Yasiel Puig
St. Louis
Kershaw should dominate today, avoid the bats.
