Pitcher Grind Down
- Tim Hudson – Hudson has been pitching at a high level this year and is one of the most consistent starters in all of baseball at the moment. After 70 + innings, Hudson has a 1.92 ERA and a ridiculous 0.88 WHIP. He is not going to get you a ton of strikeouts, but makes for a good consistent cash game play any time he takes the mound. Rating = 7
Salaries: $7300 FD, $15223 DS, $18550 DD, $9300 DK, $100200 FF, $28200 SS, $15400 FTD
- Lance Lynn – Lynn has been much better in his last 3 starts as he has allowed only 4 earned runs during that span. He has a 3.13 ERA on the season and has a 7.96 K/9. This game should be a pitchers duel and Lynn is the small favorite in it. The win may be hard to come by, but he should reach value this afternoon. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8100 FD, $16534 DS, $15400 DD, $8300 DK, $94700 FF, $24000 SS, $14900 FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Francisco
Pablo Sandoval – Lynn has struggled a bit against LH bats and Sandoval is heating up this week. He is batting .407 with 2 home runs in the last 7 days.
St. Louis
It is tough to suggest any batters against Hudson who has an under 1 WHIP on the season.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jered Weaver – After a rough start to the season, Weaver has strung together 8 straight starts where he has not allowed more than 3 earned runs. This puts his ERA at a respectable 2.99 on the season, while holding opponents to a .205 BA. He has a very tough draw today against an A’s offense that can put up runs in bunches. Due to the matchup, there are better options at his price point on the board today. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7700 FD, $19230 DS, $16250 DD, $9800 DK, $106100 FF, $25400 SS, $13400 FTD
- Sonny Gray – Gray had really his first rough start of the season last time out against a good Tigers offense. Gray still has a 2.31 ERA on the season and a decent 7.30 K/9. He draws a tough matchup against the Angels, but the possible absence of Trout today due to back problems would really boost his fantasy potential. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8400 FD, $17700 DS, $16000 DD, $9000 DK, $98200 FF, $25000 SS, $14600 FTD
Batter Grind Down
LA Angels
Erick Aybar – Aybar has been playing very well over the last week and should continue to hit in the leadoff role today, especially if Trout is not in the lineup.
Oakland
John Jaso – Due to Moss most likely not playing today, Jaso gets my nod as one of the top options facing Weaver today. When Jaso has played this week he is mashing the ball for a .462 AVG and we all know how well he hits RH pitching (.318 AVG).
Additional Plays: Coco Crisp

Pitcher Grind Down
- Alfredo Simon – Simon’s ERA looks good for the season at 2.90 and a 1.10 WHIP, but his inconsistencies make him very tough to start for fantasy purposes. He has had 2 starts in his last 4 where he has not gotten out of the 4th inning and has allowed 9 home runs in only 10 starts this year. He is pitching in a hitter friendly park today and should be avoided. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5900 FD, $14867 DS, $14000 DD, $6600 DK, $75800 FF, $21200 SS, $NA FTD
- Wade Miley – Miley has not had a good season and has a 4.76 ERA to show for it. Miley’s main problems come at home where he is pitching today and holds a 6.50 ERA, while allowing batters to hit .284 against him. This should be a high scoring game and Miley should be avoided as well. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6100 FD, $12777 DS, $13500 DD, $6400 DK, $79400 FF, $17700 SS, $10500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Cincinnati
Brandon Phillips – Phillips continues to hit in the 3 spot for the Reds and should have a number of RBI opportunities today. Miley has given up 10 home runs this year and Phillips could run into one today.
Additional Plays: Billy Hamilton Todd Frazier Devin Mesoraco
Arizona
Miguel Montero – Montero is a great catching option on the board against Simon who is allowing a .350 wOBA to LH bats. Montero has cooled off recently, but still has an OPS of .831 against righties.
Additional Plays: Gerardo Parra Paul Goldschmidt

Pitcher Grind Down
- Max Scherzer – Sherzer has 2 very poor starts in a row where he has allowed 5 and 7 earned runs against the A’s and Tribe. He should be able to bounce back against a Mariners team that is second to last in the league at scoring against RH pitchers and is hitting .224 as a team against them. Scherzer’s K potential and depressed salary make him a top option on the day. Rating = 8
Salaries: $10600 FD, $20587 DS, $19100 DD, $10300 DK, $119700 FF, $28800 SS, $17900 FTD
- Roenis Elias – The young Cuban has been up and down so far this season. He comes into this game with an over 4 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. He has an extremely tough matchup against the big RH bats of the Tigers and I see no reason to take the chance on him today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5700 FD, $10464 DS, $10850 DD, $6500 DK, $63200 FF, $18100 SS, $11000 FTD

Detroit
Miguel Cabrera – Surprise! Miggy against a young LH pitcher screams to be a top option on the board today. You will have to pay up for him, but Cabrera has 3 home runs in the last week, is hitting .333 against LH pitching on the year, and should feast today against the rookie.
Additional Plays: Victor Martinez Torii Hunter Ian Kinsler
Seattle
Robinson Cano – Cano is not a great cash game play as the matchup does not look great, but always has home run potential and Scherzer has not been himself over his last two starts. Cano should be underowned, just make sure he is in the lineup as he has been suffering from an illness.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Edinson Volquez – Volquez has followed up his string of terrible starts with two decent ones against subpar offenses. He looks to bring his 4.30 ERA into Dodger stadium as a heavy underdog. This Dodger team showed us yesterday that they have a whole lot of run potential against RH starters and Volquez should be avoided against them. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5300 FD, $10261 DS, $11950 DD, $5800 DK, $57000 FF, $14800 SS, $10500 FTD
- Zack Greinke – Greinke showed us in his last start his big time strikeout potential and his ability to pitch deep into games. Greinke has a 2.18 ERA on the season and a 1.12 WHIP. He has a lot going for him today as a heavy favorite, a 10.36 K/9 on the season, and Volquez on the mound against him which should give him enough run support. Rating = 9
Salaries: $10100 FD, $23001 DS, $21500 DD, $10800 DK, $140500 FF, $29700 SS, $18500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Pittsburgh
Greinke has been too good on the season to try to throw any Pirates bats out there today.
LA Dodgers
Adrian Gonzalez – Voltrain has given up a .366 wOBA to left handed bats and AGON already has 2 home runs in only 12 at bats against him. Gonzalez continues to mash righties for an over 1 OPS and a .313 AVG.
Additional Plays: Andre Ethier Hanley Ramirez* Carl Crawford
