Pitcher Grind Down
- Drew Hutchison – Hutchison has not pitched well in the Rogers Centre this season, but owns a 1.72 ERA with a 0.94 WHIP on the road. Hutchison is a high strikeout pitcher that always makes an interesting GPP play. The total is set at 9.0 runs, but the Yankees have been a disappointment offensively this season and are ranked 21st against RH pitching. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5600 FD, $12394 DS, $13700 DD, $7400 DK, $83500 FF, $20100 SS, $13700 FTD
- David Phelps – Phelps has been a serviceable starter this season. He owns a 4.32 ERA with a 1.43 WHIP and a K/9 of 7.8. While this Blue Jays’ offense has cooled off over the last couple of weeks, they are still ranked 2nd against RH pitching this season with a team .340 wOBA. They also don’t strike out often which is surprising considering all of the HR hitters in their lineup. Phelps can safely be avoided in all leagues. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5300 FD, $9781 DS, $8950 DD, $5400 DK, $57600 FF, $13400 SS, $8950 FTD

Toronto
Edwin Encarnacion – Phelps has posted reverse splits this season. He has only given up a .274 wOBA to LHB’s, but has given up a .391 wOBA against RHB’s. E5 has terrific power and multi-HR upside.
Additional Plays: Jose Reyes, Jose Bautista, Melky Cabrera
NY Yankees
Jacoby Ellsbury – Ellsbury has had a little bit of a disappointing season. He is only batting .275, but does have a .305 batting average in Yankee Stadium. He also has 18 SB’s on the season. He draws a nice matchup against Hutchison who has given up a .320 wOBA to LHB’s.
Additional Plays: Brett Gardner, Mark Teixeira

Pitcher Grind Down
- Gavin Floyd – Floyd hasn’t struck out more than 4 batters in any of his last 4 starts. He still has solid numbers on the season with a 2.83 ERA, but draws a tough matchup against a Nationals’ offense that has really picked it up over the last few weeks. He is a big underdog and I think there are better options at his price point. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6100 FD, $11649 DS, $12350 DD, $7100 DK, $61800 FF, $19200 SS, $12350 FTD
- Jordan Zimmermann – Zimmermann has been dominant in his last 3 starts. He has averaged 8 and a third innings over that stretch while only giving up a combined 1 earned run. Tonight he faces a Braves’ offense that is below average against RH pitching and strikes out at a 23% clip against RH pitching. Great upside for Zimmermann in this matchup. Rating = 8
Salaries: $8600 FD, $18330 DS, $15450 DD, $10200 DK, $118400 FF, $27100 SS, $15450 FTD

Atlanta
I’ll be avoiding all Braves’ hitters tonight against Zimmermann. He has only given up 12 hits/walks combined in his last 3 starts.
Washington
Adam LaRoche – The wOBA machine love LaRoche tonight. Floyd has given up a .347 wOBA to LHB’s this season while LaRoche has a .409 wOBA against RH pitching. LaRoche is affordable at 1B and has nice upside as well.
Additional Plays: Anthony Rendon, Jayson Werth

Pitcher Grind Down
- Collin McHugh – One of my biggest red flags with pitchers is when they are struggling with their command. In his last 3 starts, McHugh has given up 10 walks while only striking out 16 batters. McHugh does have an impressive K/9 of 10.1, but there are better options at his price point. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7000 FD, $15420 DS, $17300 DD, $9100 DK, $85100 FF, $23900 SS, $17300 FTD
- Chris Archer – Archer has really turned his season around. In his last 6 starts, he has only given up a combined 5 earned runs while striking out a combined 35 batters. Tonight he faces an aggressive young Astros’ offense that is ranked 19th against RH pitching while striking out at a 23% clip. I like his chances of picking up a win here. Rating = 7
Salaries: $7300 FD, $16999 DS, $13600 DD, $9000 DK, $79800 FF, $ SS, $13600 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Houston
Jon Singleton – Archer’s splits have been backwards this season. Historically he has given up a much higher wOBA to LHB’s than he has to RHB’s. Singleton has great power against RH pitching and makes a nice contrarian play in tournaments.
Additional Plays: George Springer
Tampa Bay
Matt Joyce – The Rays’ offense has been a big disappointment this season, but they are catching McHugh at the right time. Joyce has a .351 wOBA against RH pitching and is an extremely cheap option in the OF tonight.
Additional Plays: James Loney

Pitcher Grind Down
- Zack Wheeler – Wheeler will likely be a popular play tonight and for good reason. He has great upside and a favorable price tag. On the season he owns a 4.38 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP and a K/9 of 9.1. Tonight he faces a Marlins’ offense that has really cooled off after a hot start to the season. Plus, he is facing them in the mammoth ballpark that is Marlins Park. Rating = 7
Salaries: $6800 FD, $15752 DS, $11800 DD, $7400 DK, $79200 FF, $19800 SS, $11800 FTD
- Andrew Heaney – The Marlins’ #1 pitching prospect will make his debut outing tonight against the Mets. He is actually one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball. In the minors this season, he was sporting a 2.47 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and had 79 strikeouts over 76 innings. I typically stay away from big league debuts, but his potential combined with his matchup and cheap price may be too good to pass up. I’m breaking my own rule and will be targeting Heaney in GPP’s and on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 7
Salaries: $5000 FD, $12664 DS, $ DD, $6500 DK, $70000 FF, $17500 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY Mets
The Mets may be an interesting stack tonight against the rookie Heaney, but I’ll be avoiding them in cash games with the exception of David Wright who has a .424 wOBA against southpaws this season.
Miami
Garrett Jones – Wheeler has had a common theme throughout his career and that is that he struggles against batters from the left side of the plate. He has given up a .361 wOBA to LHB’s this season and Jones is sporting a .374 wOBA against RH pitching.
Additional Plays: Giancarlo Stanton

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jose Quintana – Quintana has a 3.98 ERA this season with a 1.36 WHIP and a K/9 of 7.5. Tonight he faces a Twins’ offense that has really hit LH pitching well over the last month or so. This is one of those games where you can avoid both starting pitchers and target the offenses instead. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6000 FD, $12095 DS, $12750 DD, $6900 DK, $72200 FF, $17100 SS, $12750 FTD
- Yohan Pino – Pino is a 30 year old righty that will be making his major league debut tonight. He has been excellent in the minors this season with a 1.92 ERA and a K/9 of 9.0, but until he proves that he can pitch at the major league level, he can be avoided. The $3,000 price tag on FanDuel may be enticing, but don’t fall into that trap, you need guaranteed FP’s from your SP. Rating = 3
Salaries: $3000 FD, $11210 DS, $ DD, $ DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Chicago White Sox
Jose Abreu – I’ll take Abreu against a rookie making his major league debut any day of the week. Abreu has a .404 wOBA against RH pitching this season and should be able to capitalize on any mistakes made by the rookie.
Additional Plays: Adam Eaton, Conor Gillaspie, Gordon Beckham
Minnesota
Danny Santana – Santana has been a great addition to this Twins’ lineup. He has a .435 batting average against LH pitching and has recorded 12 hits over his last 10 games. He could be in for another multi-hit game tonight against Quintana.
Additional Plays: Josh Willingham, Brian Dozier
