Pitcher Grind Down
- C.J. Wilson – Wilson is a very interesting play tonight. He faces an Astros’ offense that strikes out as often as any team in baseball, but the Astros have been much better offensively over the last few weeks thanks to the play of George Springer. One of my favorite reasons to target Wilson is that the Angels allow him to throw around 120 pitches per game which can be said of very few SP’s. Wilson is a favorite and has a ton of upside thanks to his high K-potential. I may be in the minority here, but he is one of my top pitchers on the board. Rating = 9
Salaries: $8500 FD, $22147 DS, $16800 DD, $11100 DK, $121900 FF, $28200 SS, $14600 FTD
- Collin McHugh – McHugh has looked terrific in a few of his starts this season. The rookie righty has a 2.80 ERA with a 0.98 WHIP and a K/9 of 10.0. I will be targeting him moving forward, but will be avoiding him tonight against the Angels who are ranked 8th against RH pitching this season with a team .323 wOBA. It also doesn’t help that Mike Trout is expected to be back in the Angels’ lineup tonight. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5000 FD, $16758 DS, $14350 DD, $9100 DK, $42700 FF, $24000 SS, $9800 FTD

LA Angels
Albert Pujols – The wOBA machine likes Pujols tonight. He has a .368 wOBA against RH pitching this season and McHugh has given up a .340 wOBA to RHB’s.
Additional Plays: Kole Calhoun
Houston
George Springer – Springer is really the only Astros’ batter that I will have any exposure to tonight and I will only be using him as a GPP play. He has multi-HR upside and has hit LH pitching well this season.
Additional Plays: None

Pitcher Grind Down
- Samuel Deduno – Deduno has a 3.86 ERA on the season with a 1.41 WHIP and a K/9 of 6.8. He’s been better out of the bullpen than he has as a starter and he draws a tough matchup tonight against the Brewers whose offense has really started to heat up of late. Deduno is a +140 underdog and should be avoided in all leagues. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5500 FD, $10654 DS, $9250 DD, $5500 DK, $76200 FF, $13000 SS, $NA FTD
- Yovani Gallardo – Gallardo’s K-rate is down this season, but he has still pitched pretty well with a 3.56 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP. The Twins have been pretty average against RH pitching this season and Gallardo should see a fair amount of run support. He’s in play on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 6
Salaries: $6600 FD, $13175 DS, $13800 DD, $7400 DK, $73000 FF, $20000 SS, $12500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Minnesota
Joe Mauer – Mauer has been a disappointment to Twins’ fans, but he is still batting .275 this season so it’s not like he’s not producing at all. He has a .343 wOBA against RH pitching and is a nice value option at 1B if you are looking to save some cap space.
Additional Plays: Josh Willingham
Milwaukee
Ryan Braun – Braun and the Brewers are starting to heat up and are in a terrific spot tonight against Deduno who has given up a .353 wOBA to RHB’s this season. Braun has a .397 wOBA against RH pitching and should be considered one of the top options in the OF.
Additional Plays: Jonathan Lucroy, Carlos Gomez, Jean Segura

Pitcher Grind Down
- Chase Anderson – Anderson hasn’t been bad, but he hasn’t been great either. In his first 3 starts, he has posted a 4.02 ERA with 11 K’s over 15 innings of work. I could go into more detail, but I’ll save you some time by just telling you that this game is being played in Coors Field and that the total is set at 10.0 runs. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5400 FD, $10465 DS, $11200 DD, $5900 DK, $79300 FF, $16500 SS, $NA FTD
- Jorge De La Rosa – You could certainly make a case for De La Rosa tonight if you wanted to. He has actually pitched pretty well at home and it has been well documented that opposing teams tend to struggle offensively in the first game in Coors. I personally will not be using De La Rosa tonight, but again the case can be made for him. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6600 FD, $15416 DS, $13550 DD, $8500 DK, $93600 FF, $22000 SS, $11300 FTD

Arizona
Paul Goldschmidt – As always in Coors, both of these lineups have viable options up and down their lineups. Goldy draws honors as the top play though as he has a .407 wOBA against LH pitching this season. He has a terrific matchup against De La Rosa who have given up a .339 wOBA.
Additional Plays: Aaron Hill, Martin Prado, Chris Owings
Colorado
Troy Tulowitzki – The Rockies are back in Coors and the love affair with Tulo can once again resume. Tulo has a .643 wOBA at home this season which is basically unheard of. He is easily the top SS tonight. You’ll have to pay up for him, but fade him at your own risk. In addition to Tulo, there are quite a few viable plays on the Rockies tonight.
Additional Plays: Carlos Gonzalez, Charlie Blackmon, Wilin Rosario, Justin Morneau, Michael Cuddyer

Pitcher Grind Down
- Hector Noesi – Noesi had a decent start in his last outing, but will not be a recommended fantasy option anytime soon. He owns an ERA well over 6.00 over the last 3 seasons and has a tough matchup against the Dodgers who are ranked 4th against RH pitching with a team .338 wOBA. Rating = 2
Salaries: $4800 FD, $10331 DS, $9550 DD, $6100 DK, $NA FF, $14000 SS, $NA FTD
- Dan Haren – Haren’s numbers on the season are very respectable, but he has given up at least 3 earned runs in 5 of his last 6 starts. He has a decent K-rate and is a huge favorite in a game that has a low total of only 7.5 runs. He’s a safe play in cash games. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7600 FD, $15002 DS, $15000 DD, $8300 DK, $81300 FF, $21200 SS, $14800 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Chicago White Sox
Jose Abreu – It didn’t take long for Abreu to pick up where he left off. He homered in his 2nd at-bat off of the DL. Even more impressive was the fact that is was off of Clayton Kershaw. Abreu has a .400 wOBA against RH pitching this season and has a nice matchup against Haren who is a fly-ball pitcher.
Additional Plays: Conor Gillaspie
LA Dodgers
Adrian Gonzalez – I love this matchup for the Dodgers. Noesi has given up a .385+ wOBA to both LHB’s and RHB’s this season. A-Gon has always had great power against RH pitching and this season is not different as he has a .423 wOBA against righties.
Additional Plays: Matt Kemp, Hanley Ramirez, Yasiel Puig

Pitcher Grind Down
- Gerrit Cole – Cole is going to be a popular play tonight and for good reason. He is facing one of the worst offenses in baseball in the most pitcher-friendly parks in baseball. Cole has great K-potential and makes a nice play in all leagues. Rating = 9
Salaries: $8100 FD, $17742 DS, $16500 DD, $9100 DK, $92200 FF, $23200 SS, $12600 FTD
- Jesse Hahn – Hahn is one of the Padres’ top pitching prospects and he will make his major league debut tonight. In the minors this season he has posted a 2.20 ERA with 28 K’s over 33 innings of work. I typically like to take a wait and see approach with rookies making their debuts and that’s exactly what I will be doing tonight. Rating = 5
Batter Grind Down
Pittsburgh
Andrew McCutchen – It’s hard to know what to expect out of the rookie Hahn tonight, but McCutchen has hit RH pitching well this season and could take advantage of the rookie if he makes any mistakes.
Additional Plays: Ike Davis
San Diego
I’m not crazy about any of the Padres’ hitters tonight. Cole has held both LHB’s and RHB’s under a .310 wOBA this season and with a full slate of games, you can certainly find a better matchup.
