MLB Player Props Today
- Jung Hoo Lee UNDER 0.5 Strikeouts
- Randy Arozarena OVER 1.5 Total Bases
- Isaac Paredes OVER 1.5 Total Bases
Jung Hoo Lee UNDER 0.5 Strikeouts (+125), BetMGM
Jung Hoo Lee struck out in his first plate appearance (PA) on Opening Day, and he struck out twice again this past Wednesday — both of those are likely to be rare occurrences. During Spring Training, Lee struck out only 4 times in 40 PA. Since 2019, Lee struck out in 7.6% of his PA or fewer each year in the KBO.
On Thursday, Lee cashed at +200 against Tyler Glasnow, who has some of the best swing-and-miss stuff in the big leagues. On Friday, Lee will be facing Dylan Cease for the second time in less than a week. When they faced each other last Saturday, Lee put the ball in play each time he stepped in the box against Cease.
Simply, this is a bet on Lee that has too much value, given the +125 price. Last year, Masataka Yoshida struck out in only 10 of his first 29 games in the MLB, and Lee has equally good bat-to-ball skills, if not better. We will continue to play this prop every day that we get it at plus-money.
Randy Arozarena OVER 1.5 Total Bases (-145), BetMGM
In 2023, Randy Arozarena had an .828 OPS and 134 wRC+ against left-handed pitching (LHP). Today, he gets to face one of the most hittable LHP in Major League Baseball, with Austin Gomber on the bump for the Rockies. Last year, Gomber ranked in the 13th percentile or worse in xERA, xBA, fastball velocity, average exit velocity allowed, chase%, whiff%, K%, and Hard-Hit% allowed. He struggled to a 5.76 FIP and 1.45 WHIP against right-handed batters (RHB) at Coors Field. This is a very playable line for Arozarena this afternoon.
Isaac Paredes OVER 1.5 Total Bases (-125), BetMGM
In addition to getting to face Austin Gomber on Friday afternoon, the Tampa Bay bats will have the benefit of some unusually hitter-friendly playing conditions – even by Coors Field standards. Our friendly neighborhood meteorologist, Kevin Roth, at RotoGrinders, summed up the forecast by saying, “As good of hitting weather as you’ll ever see.” Temperatures in the 70s with winds blowing out to center field should aid any ball in the air in this game. Isaac Paredes had a very high 45.7% fly-ball rate against LHP last season, which bodes well for his chances of leaving the yard against the soft-tossing Gomber. Two total bases are a worthwhile risk here.
