MLB Player Props Today

Joe Ryan u5.5 Strikeouts (-110), PointsBet

Yesterday, Sonny Gray threw 55 pitches, Corbin Burnes threw 66 pitches, and Zack Wheeler threw 67 pitches. Considering that the Minnesota Twins will host their first postseason game on Tuesday, it is likely that Joe Ryan will have a reduced workload as well, similar to yesterday’s frontline starters. Even on a non-restricted pitch count, Ryan has failed to eclipse this market number twice in his last four turns through the rotation. It would not be surprising to see him capped at less than 70 pitches in this spot, which will make it difficult for him to amass six strikeouts, even against a contact-challenged Colorado Rockies lineup.

Joe Ryan u15.5 Outs Recorded (-136), BetRivers

This prop is not available at most retail sportsbooks as of this writing, but the reason is clear – Joe Ryan is unlikely to be asked to pitch into the sixth inning in this contest. Yesterday, Sonny Gray, Corbin Burnes, and Zack Wheeler were each removed after only four innings of work, despite the fact that none of them had allowed more than one earned run to that point in the game. The Minnesota Twins have already clinched the American League Central division and they have no ability to move up or down in seeding during this weekend’s action. As a result, Ryan is likely to have this game treated more like a high-intensity bullpen than anything else. It would be very surprising if he was sent out for the sixth inning against the Colorado Rockies on Friday.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Jose Ramirez Less Than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks

We are going to end the regular season by going back to ol’ reliable, Jose Ramirez, in this market. Ramirez has struck out in only 10.3% of his plate appearances in 2023 and has been even better of late – striking out in only 8.3% of his plate appearances since September 10. Ramirez sometimes chases bad pitches out of the strike zone, but that is unlikely to be a major issue this evening against Joey Wentz, who ranks in the 14th percentile in chase rate among qualified starters this year. Ramirez is a good candidate to avoid a punchout in this matchup.
