MLB Player Props Today

Muchael Kopech u7.5 strikeouts (-125), BetMGM

Entering play on Sunday, Michael Kopech has three consecutive starts with at least nine strikeouts. However, two of those three starts have come against the Los Angeles Angels and Kansas City Royals – both of which rank 20th or worse in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching since May 15. Today, Kopech will have to contend with a Detroit Tigers lineup that ranks 15th in strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching during that stretch. According to props.cash, the Tigers have not struck out more than eight times in a game against a right-handed starter since May 9, meaning that there is very little margin for error if targeting the over for Kopech in this spot. Factor in Kopech’s erratic mechanics and this becomes a very worthwhile wager on the under.

Paul Goldschmidt o1.5 total bases (-120), BetMGM

Early morning start times are not typically favorable for hitters, but the reality is that Paul Goldschmidt could likely do damage against Rich Hill if this contest started at 3:00 a.m. EST. In 2023, Goldschmidt owns a .327 batting average and a 136 wRC+ against left-handed pitching. Hill has posted a 4.49 FIP and .266 opponent batting average against right-handed batters. Trust Goldschmidt to get the job done here to begin the day.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Steven Kwan less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts, PrizePicks

Steven Kwan does not have the most favorable of matchups today, but he is still going to be very difficult to strike out. Entering play on Sunday, Kwan owns an impressive 11.4% strikeout rate and has struck out only twice in his last 20 plate appearances. Joe Ryan has strong swing-and-miss stuff, but his strikeout percentage is 10.1% lower against left-handed batters than it is against right-handed batters in 2023. Expect Kwan to put the ball in play each time he steps in the box this afternoon.
