Happy Tuesday! Today’s 15-game MLB slate features no afternoon action, meaning that everything will begin at 6:40 p.m. EST or later. From a betting perspective, this means that everyone has more than enough time to examine their options before locking in their wagers to begin the new work week.
We went 1-2 yesterday but are still 33-16-2 across our last 16 posts. During the month of May, we are 56-31-4 on non-Home Run props. We are now 60-27-1 on pitcher prop recommendations for the season. There is plenty of opportunity once again on the player prop market today – below are three prop leans for May 30!

MLB Player Props Today
- Nestor Cortes o5.5 strikeouts
- Nestor Cortes o16.5 outs recorded
- Masataka Yoshida less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts
Nestor Cortes o5.5 strikeouts (-135), BetMGM
The Seattle Mariners have been a strikeout machine against southpaws to begin 2023, with little indication that their approach will improve any time soon. According to props.cash, Reid Detmers, Drew Smyly, Steven Matz, Bailey Falter, JP Sears, Andrew Heaney Jared Shuster, and Ken Waldichuk have each collected at least seven strikeouts against the Mariners this season. Entering play on Tuesday, Seattle ranks 25th in strikeout percentage against left-handed pitching during the month of May. Home plate Brian Walsh does not have much of a profile at the MLB level, but this is still a spot worth firing on for bettors.
Nestor Cortes o16.5 outs recorded (-135), BetMGM
Nestor Cortes owns a dreadful 5.30 ERA through his first 10 turns in the rotation this year. However, his 3.69 xERA and 4.78 FIP scream positive regression sooner rather than later. Positive regression could begin as soon as tonight when Cortes takes the mound against the Mariners, which rank 20th in OPS, 18th in ISO, 22nd in walk rate, and 25th in strikeout percentage against left-handed pitching during the month of May. The New York Yankees bullpen is not particularly taxed heading into this contest, but neither is it overly rested. If Cortes could find a way to work into the 6th inning this evening, it would be much appreciated by the entire pitching staff.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Masataka Yoshida less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts, PrizePicks
Entering play on Tuesday, Masataka Yoshida has struck out in only 10.6% of his plate appearances to begin the 2023 campaign. Tonight, he gets to face Ben Lively, who owns a pedestrian 19.4% strikeout rate against left-handed hitters so far this season. In Triple-A, Lively had only a 16.2% strikeout rate against left-handed batters in 2023. Simply, this is a highly favorable matchup for Yoshida from a contact perspective. Expect him to put the ball in play in each of his at-bats against Lively this evening. We will take our chances with Yoshida in the late innings against a Cincinnati Reds bullpen that ranks 23rd out of 30 teams in strikeout percentage across the last month of action.
