MLB Player Props Today
- Patrick Sandoval u5.5 Strikeouts
- Kyle Gibson u4.5 Strikeouts
- Luis Matos Less Than 0.5 Strikeouts
Patrick Sandoval u5.5 Strikeouts (-158), FanDuel
During the month of September, the Tampa Bay Rays have struck out at the 4th-lowest rate of any team in baseball against left-handed pitching. According to props.cash, seven of the last 12 left-handed starters to face the Rays have gone under their pregame market number for strikeouts, indicating that this recent high-contact trend is more than a short-lived aberration in the data. Patrick Sandoval has only eclipsed this market number in one of his last five trips to the mound and has an unfavorable matchup this evening – the under is a good look here.
Kyle Gibson u4.5 Strikeouts (-148), FanDuel
Since September 1, the Houston Astros have struck out less often against right-handed pitching than any other team in the league. Dating back to August 15, 17 of the last 20 right-handed starters to face the Astros have gone under their pregame market number for strikeouts. In his last four turns through the rotation, Gibson owns a pedestrian 9.3% swinging-strike rate and has struggled to consistently get ahead in counts. The under is a worthwhile risk in this spot on Tuesday.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Luis Matos Less Than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks
Entering play on Tuesday, Luis Matos has struck out in only 12.9% of his total plate appearances in 2023. He has elite bat-to-ball skills and rarely chases bad pitches outside of the strike zone, which makes him a good bet to put the ball in play each time he steps in the box. He has a seemingly difficult matchup tonight against Zac Gallen, but Gallen has only an 18.7% strikeout rate across his last four starts, which creates good value on this play.
