MLB Player Props Today

Bo Naylor to Hit a Home Run
Gleyber Torres to Hit a Home Run
Josh Rojas to Hit a Home Run

Bo Naylor to Hit a Home Run (+400), FanDuel

In 2023, Michael Soroka gave up a fair number of home runs to both righties and lefties. The tricky part with Soroka is that he allows significantly fewer fly balls to lefties than he does to righties, but the wind direction in this game favors lefties significantly.

There isn’t really a wrong answer if targeting a Cleveland hitter in this game, with Jose Ramirez (+360), Josh Naylor (+390), and Naylor (+400) each being quality lefties who lift the ball well against RHP. Nevertheless, Naylor has the best price available and has the best fly-ball rate of any hitter on the Guardians against RHP to begin 2024. We will roll with him in this spot.

Gleyber Torres to Hit a Home Run (+460), FanDuel

A.J. Puk has really struggled in his transition to the rotation, but he has yet to give up a home run in 2024. That could change on Tuesday, facing a Yankees lineup that has no shortage of hitters who excel at lifting the ball against LHP. Aaron Judge (+220), Giancarlo Stanton (+320), Torres (+460), and Anthony Volpe (+680) are all worthy of consideration.

That being said, Torres has put together some quality at-bats against LHP early in 2024, with a 22.2% line-drive rate and 33.3% fly-ball rate. Importantly, he doesn’t walk as often as some of his teammates, which means we should get a couple of balls in play from him against Puk. His odds make him an appealing option.

Josh Rojas to Hit a Home Run (+1200), FanDuel

Rojas is certainly a long shot, but he makes sense given the matchup and the odds. Chris Bassitt allowed a 5.2 HR% to lefties last season and is off to another rough start in 2024.

Cal Raleigh (+360), Jorge Polanco (+420), and Dominic Canzone (+540) are other lefties who lift the ball well against RHP, but Rojas has odds twice as long as anyone else in Seattle’s projected lineup, despite a solid fly-ball rate to begin 2024 and a 42.9% fly-ball rate against RHP in 2023.
