MLB Player Props for Wednesday, 5/28: Best Bets & Predictions Today
What kind of performances can we expect on Wednesday from Tyler Mahle, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Julio Rodriguez? Follow along as our MLB betting analyst, Nick Galaida, breaks down three of his favorite MLB prop bets for Wednesday, May 28th. Assuming the Cardinals and Orioles play baseball tonight, there are 6 MLB games on tap for this evening’s action. Notable starters Hunter Greene, Matthew Boyd, and George Kirby make up an exciting slate of starting pitchers, which should lead to some entertaining television. Of course, 6 games also means quite a few betting opportunities worth evaluating as well!
As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.
Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat or unlucky if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Best MLB Player Props for Wednesday, May 28th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM ET on Wednesday, May 28th:
- Tyler Mahle Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
- Julio Rodriguez Over/Under 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Tyler Mahle UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (+140, bet365)
Mahle has been more lucky than good in many ways to begin 2025. He’s benefited from an abnormally low .231 BABIP and a high LOB% this season despite allowing more line drives than the league-average pitcher. He’s also had more trouble with RHB than LHB, which could work against him assuming Toronto continues to stack their lineup with RHB. During the last month of action, Mahle is averaging an inefficient 4.1 pitches per batter faced. At significant plus money, there are reasons to be tempted by the under.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-140, BetMGM)
Guerrero went hitless last night against the Rangers, but he’s been seeing the ball well of late. Since the beginning of May, he is hitting .281 with a 141 wRC+. During that span, he has 4 home runs, 9 RBIs, and he has scored 18 runs. Tonight, he will get to face Tyler Mahle, who has struggled to a 14.1% strikeout rate against RHB in 2025. Guerrero should be able to put the ball in play a few times, which increases the likelihood of him recording a hit. Batting in the 2-hole, there is a decent chance that one of those hits comes with a guy on base in front of him. He also has strong offensive producers behind him who could help drive him home.
Julio Rodriguez UNDER 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-140, BetMGM)
Rodriguez has gone over this number in roughly half of his games to begin 2025, but he doesn’t get a particularly favorable matchup tonight against Trevor Williams in a pitcher-friendly ballpark. This season, Williams has been tough on RHB, with a 2.44 FIP and 0.96 WHIP. Rodriguez has been good against RHP this year, but he’s been far more productive against southpaws. There is always a risk that Rodriguez gets some favorable looks in the late innings against a suspect Washington bullpen, but there could be some value on the under given the starting pitching matchup.
