There are only six games on tap in Major League Baseball, but there are still fun opportunities for the betting community to consider! Entering play this evening, the Los Angeles Dodgers are riding a 10-game winning streak but will be put to a tough test against Corbin Burnes and the division-leading Milwaukee Brewers, which are looking to avoid a sweep in Hollywood.
In the last two weeks alone, we have cashed a +758 parlay, a +837 parlay, and a +711 parlay. We nearly cashed another +940 parlay on Friday, but the Colorado Rockies blew a seventh-inning lead as +320 underdogs, losing 2-1 to the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Friday, we went 2-1 again on plus-money plays, but lost the parlay because Joey Votto didn’t collect two total bases. Yesterday, we went 2-1 but missed out on a big payday because Amed Rosario didn’t record a hit.
Not counting the All-Star Game, we have cashed eight tickets in this article, narrowly missed 26 winners, and had 20 tickets seemingly dead on arrival. Playing longshot parlays each day, these results are within the parameters of what is expected. As we highlight every day, these plays have been exceptionally profitable if played as individual tickets.
In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable. Overall, these plays are 91-72-1 (55.8%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.
Below, we break down our favorite longshot (+854) look for August 17, focusing on today’s matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers!

MLB Parlay Piece for August 17, 2023
- Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline
- Christian Yelich 2+ Total Bases
- Freddie Freeman 2+ Total Bases
Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline (+126)
Since Lance Lynn arrived in Hollywood, he has posted a sterling 2.00 ERA, but his 4.37 FIP in that stretch suggests that negative regression is on the horizon. It is also worth noting that Lynn’s starts in that span have come against the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, and Colorado Rockies – two of which are fighting for the worst record in all of baseball. Facing Corbin Burnes and the Milwaukee Brewers, the Los Angeles Dodgers could have trouble running their winning streak to 11 games.
Christian Yelich 2+ Total Bases (+110)
Lance Lynn has been completely incapable of getting outs against left-handed batters in 2023. Ahead of the first pitch this evening, Lynn owns a 6.09 FIP, 1.77 WHIP, and has allowed a .313 opponent batting average across the platoon. Christian Yelich has been a near-automatic out against southpaws this year, but he has been a wrecking ball against right-handed pitching, with a .306 batting average, .907 OPS, and a 145 wRC+. At plus-money, this is good value to include in our longshot parlay today.
Freddie Freeman 2+ Total Bases (-105)
Corbin Burnes has been extremely tough on left-handed batters this year, but not all left-handed batters are created equal. Freddie Freeman is perhaps the most feared left-handed hitter in baseball and is only recently busting out of a mini-slump at the plate. Freeman possesses excellent barrel control through the zone, making him more than capable of holding his own, even against the toughest pitchers in baseball.
