NBA Big Events: Big Money Wednesday Recap

I hope all of you made it through last night in one piece, because everyone who played any daily fantasy last night was put through the ringer from about 6:00 ET until we were saddled with the news that Ty Lawson wouldn’t play (shortly after beat-reporters from both teams indicated he would). In addition to Lawson, we dealt with back-and-forth news with Dwyane Wade, a serious case of tank-itis from Anthony Davis and it’s likely LeBron just needed a night off. I think it’s safe to say that was the most hectic pre-roster lock period of the season, and those on late-swap sites couldn’t let their guard down until the last game of the night was underway.
We’re making way into the stretch run of the regular season, so big events aren’t nearly as plentiful as they were just a few weeks ago. DraftStreet and FanDuel offered their big Wednesday GPP’s, and StarStreet ran one of the final PBC qualifiers of the season. DraftDay’s $100K NBA Championship bracket is nearing the end, and it’s now down to naapstermaan and mattness in the finals (best of luck to both of you guys)! As always, all RotoGrinders members who finished in the top-10 will have their names bolded. At the end of the tournament breakdowns, I’ll run through some of the top plays on the three major sites by dollar per point.
FanDuel $110K Super Slam

Rolltidechamps (77th overall) finished 5th by stacking the Spurs (Parker, Leonard, Duncan), which most people didn’t have the stones to do considering the limited playing time the San Antonio starters saw in the last meeting between these teams. He also went against the grain with Pau Gasol (52 FP’s), Shawn Marion (38.7 FP’s) and Randy Foye (38.5 FP’s), all of which paid off their price tags with ease. He was our only member in the top 10 of the Super Slam this week.
DraftStreet Weekly 50K

Congratulations to Gateman07 (35th on the NBA Grinder leaderboard, 46th overall) for dominating the Weekly $50K with entries in 1st and 3rd place! He hit on the big game from Ricky Rubio in both of his top three entries, and was part of the 8% of the field who caught the career-best game from Aaron Brooks with Lawson on the shelf. Tslats (53rd on the NBA Grinder leaderboard, 55th overall) also hit on both Rubio and Brooks in his 4th place lineup, followed by bono6699 (213th overall) in 6th place to round out the RotoGrinders members.
StarStreet PBC Qualifier

Props to TommyG1979 (59th in the TPOY rankings, 107th on the NBA Grinder leaderboard) for securing his spot in the PBC in one of the final qualifiers of the season! Like most of the GPP winning lineups across the industry, he rostered Ricky Rubio (64 FP’s) and also hit on the big game from Deron Williams (41.75 FP’s). Tommy has been flying up the overall rankings since the end of football season and if he does well in the PBC, he will see his TPOY ranking soar even higher. Radthad954 (85th overall) was just a few points behind in 2nd, and it stayed interesting until the end with Kawhi Leonard having one of his better performances of the season in the late game. He took down the DSBBC less then a week ago, so this one probably isn’t causing him to lose much sleep. TeamSleep (60th on the NBA Grinder leaderboard, 71st overall) finished 3rd, followed by SyracuseSlappers (213th in the TPOY rankings) in 4th and Makisupa in 5th.
