NBA Player Props Today – Saturday, January 6, 2024

Jalen Brunson Over/Under 33.5 Points + Assists

In three games since RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley departed via trade, Jalen Brunson has taken 23 shots against the Timberwolves, 22 shots against the Bulls, and 20 shots against the 76ers. Brunson was inefficient from the field against the Timberwolves, but scored 31 points against the Knicks and 29 points against the 76ers.

As a facilitator, Brunson had 14 assists against Minnesota, 13 assists against Chicago, and 2 assists against the 76ers — the last on that list being excusable against a defense that has allowed fewer opponent assists per game than any other team across the last 30 days. In his first two games following the trade, Brunson had 23 potential assists and 19 potential assists.

On Saturday, Brunson gets to play a Washington defense that ranks 30th in opponent assists across the last month. The Wizards have struggled mightily to defend opposing point guards of late, allowing 48 points in 50 minutes to Donovan Mitchell across the last two games and 40 points to Trae Young on December 31. If we assume Brunson continues to be aggressive on the offensive end of the floor, he should have every opportunity to clear this market number for us.

Tyrese Maxey Over/Under 25.5 Points

Tobias Harris left Friday’s contest early due to an ankle injury, making it possible (if not likely) that he will be unavailable on the second-half of a back-to-back set on Saturday against the Jazz. According to RotoGrinders CourtIQ, Tyrese Maxey (+12.5%) sees the largest increase in usage this season with Harris off of the floor, averaging 34.6 points per 36 minutes of action. The Jazz rank 23rd in defensive efficiency, 28th in opponent 3-point attempts per game, and 25th in opponent 3-point percentage across their last 9 road games, making this an extremely favorable matchup for Maxey.

Maxey has been at his best at home this year, averaging 27.2 points per game on 47.5% shooting from the field, and 40.8% shooting from 3-point territory. This is an approachable market number for him.

Jaylen Brown Over/Under 21.5 Points

Jaylen Brown has gone under this market number in consecutive games to begin 2024, but he has shot an uncharacteristically poor 22.2% from the field across those two contests. Brown is a career 47.7% from the field, including 48.0% this season, making it likely that we see positive regression to the mean from him sooner rather than later.

This season, Brown has not scored fewer than 22 points in three consecutive games, and he only has one such occurrence dating back to October 2022. During the last 30 days, the Pacers rank 24th in defensive efficiency and 4th in pace, making this a nice bounceback spot for Brown, who has eclipsed this market number in 7 of his last 11 games played on zero days of rest, including a 28-point performance on December 20 against the Kings.
