NBA Player Props Today – Wednesday, January 10, 2024
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over/Under 33.5 Points
- Scottie Barnes Over/Under 7.5 Rebounds
- Chet Holmgren Over/Under 18.5 Points
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over/Under 33.5 Points
Entering play on Wednesday, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is 3rd in the NBA in scoring, but he has a difficult matchup this evening on the road against a shrewd Miami defense. Since Jimmy Butler last played on December 30, the Heat rank only 14th in defensive rating, but they have done a better job defending top scoring options than they have supporting players. During their last 4 games, they have held Kawhi Leonard to 24 points, Anthony Davis to 29 points, Devin Booker to 20 points, and Alperen Sengun to 22 points. However, they have allowed 22 points to Norman Powell, 24 points to Austin Reaves, 31 points to Grayson Allen, and 32 points to Fred VanVleet in that span. All of this is to say that Miami usually doesn’t allow an opponent’s top scoring threat to beat them. Instead, they force other players to make shots, which is likely to make it difficult for SGA to have an explosive performance in this spot.
- PICK: Gilgeous-Alexander UNDER 33.5 Points (-125), BetMGM
Scottie Barnes Over/Under 7.5 Rebounds
In 5 games since RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley came over from the Knicks, Scottie Barnes has yet to record more than 6 rebounds in any game. During that stretch, Barnes ranks 5th on the team in rebound chances per game at 7.8. In those 5 games, he has posted 12 rebound chances, 8 rebound chances, 7 rebound chances, 5 rebound chances, and 7 rebound chances. Simply, he is not coming anywhere close to having enough volume to threaten for 8 rebounds on a nightly basis right now. This market number is still far too high post-trade, making the under a strong target once again on Wednesday night against the Clippers.
- PICK: Barnes UNDER 7.5 Rebounds (-119), Caesars
Chet Holmgren Over/Under 18.5 Points
Chet Holmgren went off for 31 points on Monday against the Wizards, but bettors should not mistake that performance as a sign of things to come for the rookie on the road. In 16 road contests this season, Holmgren is still averaging only 16.8 points per game on 53.2% shooting, compared to 18.7 points per game on 56.7% shooting at home. Holmgren has only eclipsed this market number 3 times in 16 road games this season, making it a worthwhile risk to go back to the under once again here, especially against a Miami defense that is likely to limit his shot attempts around the rim.
- PICK: Holmgren UNDER 18.5 Points (-128), FanDuel
