What is your favorite correlation and why?

Notorious: Jonathan Taylor + Carnell Tate – I love this skinny stack. We’ll start with JT, who could have massive ownership in this spot on another slate. With the running back position so loaded, he’s somewhat flying under the radar. He has averaged 20 fantasy points per game this season despite the Colts being in the bottom 10 in EPA on both offense and defense. He should finally have a favorable game script, as the Colts are 7-point favorites at home against the Titans. Taylor has played on 82% of the snaps this season, has run a route on 58% of dropbacks, and has seen 79% of the team’s carries inside the 5-yard line. He should see around 25 touches in this one. As for Tate, he leads the Titans with 37 targets this season. He was held in check last week, but the Colts are 22nd in EPA allowed per dropback and average at best at defending wide receivers. In a spot where Tennessee should be trailing, he could easily see double-digit targets.

stevietpfl: Jameis Winston + Malik Nabers + Chris Olave – Winston threw the ball 54 times last weekend against Washington and has 6 passing touchdowns in the last 2 weeks. In that 2-game stretch, Nabers has played 84.1% of the snaps and has a 31.3% target rate. He has a 41.9% air yard share and accounts for 40.5% of the team’s yards in that stretch. It’s a good matchup for the Giants run game, but the run game has struggled with Winston at quarterback. With this game projected as one of the fastest games this weekend, I love the ceiling of this combo. I’ll run it back with Olave for the most part. It was a tough matchup for Olave against the Vikings, but this is a great bounce-back spot. He has the 2nd-most receiving yards in the NFL this season and accounts for 44.3% of the team’s air yards. I think this is a sneaky shootout game.

Krayton: Matthew Stafford + Puka Nacua + Michael Wilson – This will be one of the more popular game stacks, but it’s one I want heavy exposure to. Stafford and Nacua get an elite matchup against the Cardinals. Nacua has played in only 3 games but is already ranked 9th overall in the league for targets. He is coming off a game against Buffalo in which he had 24 targets, and he gets another top matchup. He has also had big games against the Cardinals in the past, putting up 25.9, 26, and 38.7 DK points. Wilson or Trey McBride are my favorite bring-back options. Although Wilson doesn’t have the easiest matchup with Trent McDuffie expected to shadow him, he is still going to be a focal point of the offense, as he hasn’t received fewer than 7 targets in a game this season, and he’s had 13 and 17 targets in 2 of his last 3 games. This is a great game to get exposure to, and I will be looking to blend in lower-pOWN% options with this more popular correlation.

ebeimfohr: James Cook III + Brock Bowers – While I like the QBs in this game, I don’t think they are my absolute priority, but this secondary correlation is my favorite of the slate. Brock Bowers is in a tier of his own at the TE position this season, being targeted on 30% of his routes with a league-leading 2.92 YPRR among all TEs. He is only 4 yards behind Sam LaPorta for the lead in receiving yards among TEs despite missing the first 2 games. He’s also functionally a superstar WR whom we get to play at TE, as he’s lined up inline just 16% of the time. The Bills defense grades out as Cowboys-level and Lions-level bad for me this season, and Bowers should feast. On the other side, James Cook III is in for one of his eruptions against this Raiders defense. They’ve allowed the 2nd-most run plays of 10+ yards, and we’ve yet to see Cook with a run longer than 35 yards. The big ones are coming, and he’s going to have the opportunity to do so with the Bills leading the league in yards before contact per attempt and the Raiders’ defense last in the league in yards before contact.

ncorfield8k: Derrick Henry + Ravens D/ST. The Ravens are facing Deshaun Watson, whose 10 turnover-worthy plays are tied for 3rd-most among quarterbacks. If they can cause turnovers, Henry should have some short fields. And the Ravens have shown a willingness to lean on Henry with Lamar Jackson out.

Davis Mattek: Caleb Williams + Luther Burden III – I wanted to just do Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua here and say that they are going to be so overwhelmingly optimal that you can get different elsehwere. However, in my initial sims run, the combo pairing of Williams + Burden was on less than 1% of rosters in small-field tournaments compared to over 10% of rosters that had BOTH of Stafford and Nacua. I think the nuke ceiling that Williams and Burden have already demonstrated will be underowned.

Jordan Vanek: Caleb Williams + Luther Burden III + Rome Odunze + Bijan Robinson -The Falcons’ secondary is dealing with a ton of injuries at CB, leaving Mike Hughes and rookie Avieon Terrell as the two starting boundary corners. The Bears have a significant mismatch on the perimeter, and I think both WRs should find plenty of success in this matchup. On the other side, Robinson is almost a must in this game stack because of the matchup and expected game environment. The Bears have allowed a ton of yards before contact per rushing attempt this season, and if you give Robinson room to run, he’s going to make you pay.

Who’s your favorite contrarian play (below 10% pOWN%) and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
