NFL Week 1 definitely brings questions to be answered, especially for fantasy owners. It’s put up or shut up time for guys like Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa, whose organizations did everything they could to ensure they loaded up on talent around them. How will Lamar Jackson look coming off an injury? Will a healthy Ravens offense get back to being the powerhouse they were a few seasons ago? Can he return to MVP form? Will Kyler Murray put down the sticks and watch some film? These questions and many more will be answered as the season progresses. But it all starts in week 1. Let’s take a look at the NFL Week 1 Quarterback Rankings.

Week 1 Fantasy Quarterback Analysis

If you have any of the top 4 QBs on this list, especially 2-4 in my opinion, you’re going to feel very good about your QB situation going into most weeks regardless of the matchup. But as we know as fantasy owners, oftentimes each individual matchup is crucial in regards to putting together the winning lineup. Here are the QBs I really like in week 1 based on their matchup.

Lamar Jackson ($8.5K)

Jackson has quickly made a name for himself as one of the most dynamic athletes in the game. Fantasy owners undoubtedly have fallen in love with his dual threat ability, and with good reason. This week he has a very favorable matchup against the Jets who are coming off a 4 win season that featured the worst defense in all of football. They’ve added some talent on that end certainly. Head coach Robert Salah is hoping that the addition of free agents D.J. Reed, Jordan Whitehead, and 1st round pick Sauce Gardner will significantly bolster the secondary, but it’s hard to believe they’re going to be a significant threat just an offseason removed from allowing nearly 398 yards per game.

Not to mention the Jets are rolling out former Raven Joe Flacco as QB1 in lieu of the knee injury to Zack Wilson. It’s hard to believe they’re going to find success moving the ball on offense, which means a lot of time of possession for Jackson to damage by land and by air as he sees fit. Look for a big day out of the Ravens signal caller.

Jalen Hurts ($8K)

I will be frank, I am not a believer in Jalen Hurts. But as a fantasy asset, he proved to be quite useful last season. He is definitely dynamic on the ground, and that tends to elevate his floor tremendously. With the addition of AJ Brown, and last year’s 1st round pick Davonte Smith coming into his second season, there is definitely enough talent around Hurts for him to excel. They have a solid tight end in Dallas Godert and a plethora of backs that can help in the passing game led by Miles Sanders.

Oh yeah, and they’re playing the Lions week 1. Don’t let Hardknocks fool you, the Lions are likely still the Lions. I love Dan Cambel as a coach and undoubtedly his players do too. They will play hard, I’m just not sure they have enough talent to keep up with the loaded squad the Eagles have on paper, even with the addition of Michigan Wolverine Aiden Hutchinnson. Jalen Hurts should have a field day with the new toys at his disposal.

Aaron Rodgers ($7.8K)

I know I know, Davante Adams is gone. So what. He’s Aaron Rodgers. Reigning back to back MVP of the league. Mr. Discount Double Check. Aaron Freakin Rodgers, and he absolutely owns the AFC North. In two games against the Vikings last season he threw for 673 yards, 6 TDs, no picks and completed 73% of his passes. Yes, a lot of those numbers did go to Adams. It will be interesting to see how they adjust. But I’m confident he and Matt Lefleur can figure it out. Start him. He’s gonna shred them again.
