Finding Paydirt: Week 9 NFL Touchdown Picks — Win 2 Months of RG Premium & More Prizes!
Touchdowns, while extremely variant, make or break daily fantasy success and swing thousands of dollars every Sunday. Every weekend, players wait anxiously for the players on their roster to find paydirt. The purpose of the contest is to provide an opportunity for the RotoGrinders community to come together to sweat our touchdown picks together. Did I mention there will be prizes?
Happy Friday, Grinders! With Week 8 in the rear-view mirror, we are ready to recognize our second four-week segment winners. We will attend to that in our leaderboard section. Last week brought triple-touchdown days from the chalk of yore, as Alvin Kamara and Christian McCaffrey both accounted for three of their team’s touchdowns in big winning efforts. Will we see more explosive performances as we open up a new segment? Let’s start with some winners.
The Leaderboard
Surprise, surprise, a couple of large weeks from our veterans 1010mg and yisman locked up a first-place tie for the month. Yisman found lightning in a bottle with the chalky Tony Pollard while 1010mg benefited from Alvin Kamara finally breaking the touchdown seal. Congratulations to both members of our community and thank you for your continued participation.
Speaking of veterans, SmoothLH20 jumped in to tie me for second place. Congratulations. I will send you all direct messages to discuss prizes.
Finding Paydirt Rules and Prizes
Very simple. Each week, I will publish Finding Paydirt on Friday morning — highlighting my favorite touchdown pick for the running back, wide receiver, and tight end position. To participate in the contest, you simply need to read the article and leave your three picks in the comments section. So, easy, right? You will take Jonathan Taylor, Davante Adams, and Travis Kelce! Easy!
Not so fast, friends! There is a catch. Each week, we will run the contest for Sunday’s DraftKings Main Slate (1:00 PM and 4:00 PM games). However, to make things a bit more interesting, I will be cutting the top five priced running backs and wide receivers as well as the top three priced tight ends. Everyone else on the slate is in play.
Each week I will post an updated leaderboard with the total touchdowns accumulated that week and for the season.
So, simply put, read the article, check the cut list, make your three picks in the comments, and win prizes! What are the prizes? Read below.
The following prizes will be awarded to players based on their touchdown total for each four-week segment:
First Place – 2 months of RotoGrinders NFL Premium
Second Place – RotoGrinders T-shirt and hat
Third Place – 2 weeks of SAO Premium
The following prizes will be awarded to players based on their touchdown total for the first 16 weeks of the NFL season:
First Place – One month of RotoGrinders Combo Premium
Second Place – RotoGrinders Swag Pack
Third Place – One month of SAO Premium
Now, let’s get into this week’s cut list.
The Week 9 Cut List
Your selections must be on the DraftKings Main Slate and cannot be any of the players below. These players are the top five at both RB and WR and the top three at TE.
Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End |
Austin Ekeler | Cooper Kupp | Zach Ertz |
Dalvin Cook | Justin Jefferson | T.J. Hockenson |
Jonathan Taylor | Tyreek Hill | Darren Waller |
Aaron Jones | Stefon Diggs | |
Josh Jacobs | Davante Adams |
Now that we have made our cuts, let’s make some anytime touchdown picks.
NFL Week 9 Touchdown Picks
Travis-Etienne – RB – $6,300
Last week, the chalk clicked. Why not return on a week with six bye weeks?
Travis Etienne went nuts in London in a loss to the Denver Broncos. Despite the woes in Jacksonville, it appears that Etienne will be featured prominently in this offense. Enter the Raiders, a team just dusted off by Alvin Kamara for three scores.
I am not passing on a chalky, cheap running back this week with a full workload from their team. The Raiders are going to give up points on the road and Jacksonville is going to do everything in its power to feed Etienne the ball. Here is hoping for a repeat of Kamara’s eruption spot last week.
Etienne is priced at -135 to score a touchdown on Caesars Sportsbook.
Amon-Ra St. Brown – WR – $6,600
Amon-Ra St. Brown seems to be the most likely bring-back for all of your Green Bay offensive stacks. At $6.6K, why wouldn’t we bring back the former automatic touchdown call?
I was encouraged to see St. Brown get 7 catches last week. With T.J. Hockenson leaving town, it stands to reason that St. Brown is going to continue to get peppered with targets as one of the only legitimate offensive weapons in Detroit.
We go back to him this week at his cheap price and hope he can put together a huge performance. St. Brown is priced at +130 to score on FanDuel Sportsbook
Robert Tonyan – TE – $3,800
I will not stop picking tight ends against the Lions. The Detroit defense is abysmal. Why stop now?
Tonyan just missed one touchdown last week if not for a tough offensive pass interference penalty call against the Bills. Against the Lions, I don’t think Tonyan will need to work as hard to get open. The entire Green Bay offense is in play this week. I see no need to mess around at one of the worst positions for this contest.
Tonyan has a +220 price for his anytime touchdown on Caesars Sportsbook.
Thanks for checking out this week’s article. Leave your touchdown picks in the comments for a chance at winning monthly and seasonal prizes.
