While I generally like to pick one of the most exciting games of the night, this game features two mediocre to bad teams, but this should be a high scoring affair. The Hawks currently sit at 12th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 16-33 and are 4-6 in their last 10, while the Kings sit at 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 25-25 and are 5-5 in their last 10.

Kings Historical Numbers Against the Spread

The Kings have been one of the best teams in the league to bet on this year going 28-21-1 ATS which ranks 4th in the NBA and today sets up as a great spot for the Kings to cover. Although the Kings may not be a great team on the road, they have been a fantastic team at home going 16-7-1 ATS at home and 5-1 ATS as a home favorite. Additionally, The Kings have been one of the worst teams in the league to bet on during a back to back as they are 2-8 on the year, but today, they are playing on multiple days for rest and they are 26-13-1 ATS with 1 or more days of rest. Overall, this sets up as a great spot for the Kings to cover.

Hawks Historical Numbers Against the Spread

Atlanta has been one of the worst teams in the league to bet on this season as they have gone 22-27 ATS to go with their 16-33 record overall. Looking at tonight we see that the Hawks are actually in good shape. The Hawks have covered at home at one of the worst rates in the league, largely due to their lack of ability to keep it close at home and the lower spreads they often get playing at home. Looking at their road numbers, they are 15-13 ATS and 15-13 ATS as road dogs (ya, they haven’t been favored on the road once). Overall, this sets up as an average spot for the Hawks to cover.

The reason why I picked this game to breakdown is for one reason and one reason only. These are the two top paced teams in the NBA. The Hawks rank at the top of the league in pace this year and rank 25th overall in defensive efficiency, while the Kings rank 2nd in the league in pace and 21st in defensive efficiency. The current total for this game is a full 9.5 points above any other game on this full 8 game slate.

Kings Historical Numbers on the Total

The Kings have been one of the better teams to bet the over on this season as they have drastically increased their pace this year and are currently 27-23 on the over this year. However, tonight sets up as a decent spot for the Kings to hit the over. While the Kings have hit the over on the road at an incredible rate this year (16-10) they have only gone 11-13 on the over at home this year, but they have been incredible when they’ve had multiple days of rest. They have a record of 9-3 on the over with multiple days of rest, compared to 4-6 on back to backs. Overall, this is a good spot for the Kings to hit the over.

Hawks Historical Numbers on the Total

With the Hawks horrid defensive and high paced, they have hit the over at one of the best rates in the league going 27-22 on the over this year. Looking at their numbers on the road, we see that the Hawks have gone 15-13 and have been the best team in the league at hitting the over on a full days rest going 22-11. Overall, this is a great spot for the Hawks to hit the over.
