NBA Player Props, January 22, 2023

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander o28.5 points (-111), FanDuel

On the season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 30.6 points per game. He averaged 31.0 points in October, 31.1 points in November, 30.5 points in December, and is averaging 29.8 points per game through his first nine January contests. According to props.cash, Gilgeous-Alexander has eclipsed this market in 17 of 28 games played this year on one day of rest, with only one game of fewer than 26 points in his last 18 trips to the hardwood. The Denver Nuggets are one of the most formidable teams in the NBA, but they are not elite defensively. On January 17, they allowed 44 points to Damian Lillard as the primary option for the Portland Trail Blazers. Gilgeous-Alexander is adept at drawing fouls, which should benefit him today against a Denver defense that ranks 19th in opponent free-throw attempts per game at home. Take the over here.

Tim Hardaway Jr o14.5 points (-110), FanDuel

After scoring only eight points on 1-for-10 shooting from the floor on Friday, bettors are getting a discount on Tim Hardaway Jr. this afternoon. Despite his poor performance against the Miami Heat, Hardaway Jr. is still averaging 15.3 points per game during the month of January – even though he is shooting only 40.8% from the floor during that time period. Entering play, he has hit the over at this market number in four of his last six games, with his two misses being a result of poor efficiency rather than a lack of involvement in the offense. Playing on the road this season, the Los Angeles Clippers rank 17th in opponent three-point attempts and 23rd in opponent three-point percentage. Expect Hardaway Jr. to have a strong bounce-back outing in this spot.

Seth Curry o12.5 points (+100), PointsBet

Dating back to 2016, Seth Curry has scored in double-figures in 10 of 13 games played against the Golden State Warriors, including a 24-point performance last November as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. Per CourtIQ, Curry is averaging 18.8 points per 36 minutes of action this season with Kevin Durant off of the floor. In five games since Durant suffered a knee injury, Curry has scored 11, 23, 16, 16, and 10 points, respectively. Facing his brother, expect there to be slightly more motivation for him to have a good game. The math makes sense here and the narrative only further incentivizes bettors to take a stab on this prop. Trust Curry to get the job done.
