NBA Player Props, January 11, 2023
- Harrison Barnes o15.5 points
- Nikola Jokic o45.5 points + rebounds + assists
- Ja Morant o27.5 points
Harrison Barnes o15.5 points (-115)
Since the calendar flipped to 2023, Harrison Barnes has been much more aggressive on the offensive end of the floor, averaging 12.4 shot attempts per game in January compared to 9.9 shot attempts in December. The result has been an increase from 14.1 points per game in December to 21.0 points per game in the new year. Entering play, Barnes has eclipsed this number in five consecutive games, which includes two games in which he did not shoot the basketball well from the floor. His recent volume alone makes this a playable line, but the icing on the cake is a favorable matchup against the Houston Rockets, a team that ranks 28th in the NBA in defensive efficiency this season on the road. Expect another strong performance from Barnes on Wednesday.
Nikola Jokic o45.5 points + rebounds + assists (-113)
In 19 home games this season, Nikola Jokic is averaging 25.4 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 10.8 assists – or 48.2 points-rebounds-assists. Tonight, Jokic and company will host a Phoenix Suns team that is playing on the second night of a back-to-back after beating the Golden State Warriors at the Chase Center on Tuesday. Already decimated by injuries, the Suns are likely to find it extremely difficult to defend Jokic with multiple star players on the sidelines. On top of a thin rotation that lacks high-end talent, Phoenix will also be traveling into altitude for this matchup. Expect Jokic to face little resistance on Wednesday – take the over in this spot.
Ja Morant o27.5 points (-117)
Following a two-game absence, Ja Morant will return to the floor tonight for the Memphis Grizzlies. Since Christmas, Morant has scored 32 points or more in five of his seven trips to the hardwood, attempting at least 19 shots from the field in each of those contests. This evening, Morant draws an extremely favorable matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, a team that ranks dead-last in the NBA, allowing 121.1 points per 100 possessions on the road this season. Assuming a semi-competitive game script, Morant is likely to hit the over on this points prop here.
