DFS Tournament Report: NFL Week 13

In what is becoming a trend of late, two players dominated the DFS NFL scene on Sunday, as imsparticus would win both the Millionaire and Wildcat (with different lineups no less) on DraftKings while robbie622 would scoop the field on FanDuel with Sunday Million and Monster wins.

Here’s a quick review of the action including standings and winning lineups.

DraftKings NFL $3.5M Millionaire

Going contrarian can certainly pay off if the low-owned plays go off and that’s precisely what happened for imsparticus in the Millionaire this week. He went with a super low-owned Joe Flacco (.4% owned), Mike Wallace (3% owned), and Dennis Pitta (1.2% owned) Ravens stack that despite a subpar 11.9 fpts from Wallace combined for nearly 75fpts. He added the uber chalk (all 23% owned or higher) in Jordan Howard (32.7 fpts), David Johnson (38.5 fpts), and Julio Jones (21.3 fpts) which when coupled with standout games from Golden Tate (31.5 fpts) and Ladarius Green (26 fpts with a two TE lineup!) led to one of the biggest margins of victory we’ve seen since doing the DFS Report. He would end up 13.6 points ahead of runner-up coronaex101 to take home the seven figure first place prize.

DraftKings NFL $1.4M Wildcat

Imsparticus wasn’t done yet, however, as he would take the Wildcat down as well with a lineup that scored 27 points less than his Millionaire winner. This lineup contained four of the same players in Howard, Johnson, Green, and Tate but instead went with Matthew Stafford at QB and Jordy Nelson and Tyreek Hill at WR (and Vernon Davis at the second TE).

DraftKings NFL $1.1M Play-Action

If imsparticus had entered all of his Millionaire lineups in the Play-Action he would have gone for the clean sweep but he didn’t, leaving jmp420 to reap the benefits with his final winning score of 218.94. He too went with the Ravens stack of Flacco, Wallace, and Pitta and even added to it with a little Steve Smith and Ravens DST action. The rest of his lineup was identical to imsparticus as he had Johnson, Howard, Julio, and Green rounding out his roster.

FanDuel $1.2M Sunday Million ($200K to 1st) and $500K Monster ($100K to 1st)

Robbie622 would utilize the same lineup to win both the Sunday Million and the Monster on FanDuel on Sunday. Surprisingly it wasn’t with Joe Flacco at the helm. Instead he utilized Aaron Rodgers (with a subpar 16 fpt game) paired with Jordy Nelson (21.8 fpts) as his main stack. He paired those two with the winning RB combo of the day in Howard and Johnson and added in at least 16.9 fpts from all other positions (including kicker and defense) to put up a winning score of 195.26.

FanDuel $750K Sling TV Rush ($100K to 1st)

Jodaddy1976 would top the 200 point threshod in the Sling TV Rush to win the $100,000 first place prize. He would have the Flacco (.3% owned) and Pitta (.7% owned) combo as well as the Ravens DST to get his team off to a great start. He did have David Johnson but chose to go with Le’Veon Bell instead of Jordan Howard (Bell put up 19.2 fpts so it wasn’t a huge difference). Then it would be two Lions players, Golden Tate (24.5 fpts) and PK Matt Prater (who said kickers don’t make a difference – he put up 18 fpts), that would be key elements to his win.
