DFS Tournament Report: NFL Week 7

The chalk continues to hit week in and week out and Week 7 of the NFL season was no different. It was a matter of the few non-chalk players that would make the difference in determining who won the big bucks. Tossboss would dominate FanDuel GPPs as he ran away with both the Sunday Million an

d the Sling to take home $400,000. Jtortona would be the latest DFS millionaire when his naked Kirk Cousins lineup would hit an impressive 238.64 points with not a single player in his lineup scoring less than 20 fpts. Here’s a quick review of the big winners and their lineups from yesterday:

DraftKings NFL $4.25M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st]

Jtortona would have four players whose ownership topped 35% in DeMarco Murray, Jacquizz Rodgers, A.J. Green, and Julio Jones. That core four would put an impressive 108.3 fpts between them leading to a solid base score for many players. Coupled with Kirk Cousins and 10%+ owned Michael Thomas and Jack Doyle as well as the best DST performance of the day in the Eagles (who were only 3.6% owned), jtortona indeed had an impressive lineup. However it was the last piece of the puzzle that would be the difference maker and would ultimately lead to him winning the seven figure payday. That piece was none other than Jay Ajayi, who despite a massive game the week before came in at just 4.1% ownership. Ajayi would reward jtortona with 31.6 fpts. Here’s a look at the top 10 (including an impressive third place finish from 2015 WSOP November Niner and DFS pro Max Steinberg) and jtortona’s winning lineup:

DraftKings NFL $1.5M Wildcat Special

Thedoc22 would take a somewhat contrarian approach to crushing the Wildcat as he would win by more than 8 points over eventual 2nd place finisher wining247 (who graced this Report last week with a big GPP win). Noted DFS writer Jonathan Bales would finish in 4th. Thedoc22, however, was the big story of this event as he utilized two players at under 3.5% ownership in Jeremy Hill and LeGarrette Blount (two backs noted for having little PPR upside) to differentiate his somewhat chalky core. Those two would score 59.6 fpts and combined with a Andy Dalton-A.J. Green stack and chalk plays like Julio, Rodgers, and O’Doyle Rules! to score 235.62 fpts in total.

DraftKings NFL $1.25M Play-Action

Tgram would almost hit 250 fpts with one of, if not, the best lineups of the day. His lineup contained only two players with ownership above 12% in Jacquizz Rodgers and A.J. Green and benefited from a Andrew Luck (1.3% owned)-T.Y.Hilton (5.8% owned)-Jack Doyle (11.3% owned) Colts stack that would combine for nearly 83fpts. He also had huge games from the aforementioned Ajayi, Eagles DST, and Melvin Gordon and his three crappy TD’s and not so crappy 36.1 fpts.

DraftKings NFL $500K Slant

Thedoc22 would be no match for regilator1 in the Slant as he would have to settle for 2nd place. Regilator1 would come out on top by more than 8 points with a lineup consisting of Dalton-Green, Julio, Ajayi, Mike Evans, and Gordon.

FanDuel $1.5M Sunday Million ($300K to 1st) and $1M Sling TV Rush ($100K to 1st)

Tossboss would dominate FanDuel contests on Sunday winning both the Sunday Million and Sling (and $400K in the process of doing so). He started with the Luck-Hilton-Doyle trio and paired the chalk of Rodgers, Evans, and Green with it as well as low owned top scorers like Gordon and the Eagles DST to put up a whopping score of 205.32. That score would win the Million by nearly 10 points – it’d be a bit closer in the Sling as he’d edge out edsucks by 2.4 points there.

FanDuel $600K Monster ($100K to 1st)

Tossboss didn’t enter his lineup in the Monster or he would have won this one too. Instead those honors went to daveterp55 whose score of 192.26 was enough to top jdtrey22 by over five points. Dave would pair Jameis Winston and his 21.66 fpts with Mike Evans and Jacquizz Rodgers in a Tampa stack. Spencer Ware, Julio, Green, Doyle, and the Eagles DST would complete his winning lineup.
