Saturday, December 30th

Hello Grinders. We are treated to a nice seven game slate this Saturday. As always, let’s do a quick rundown of the current news and notes we need to monitor:

Denver NuggetsMalik Beasley (Questionable)
Golden State WarriorsOmri Casspi (Questionable); Stephen Curry (Likely to play with a minutes limit)
Memphis GrizzliesJaMychal Green (Questionable); Chandler Parsons (Out); Wayne Selden (Questionable); Brandan Wright (Probable)
Miami HeatJames Johnson (Out); Dion Waiters (Out); Justise Winslow (Out)
Orlando MagicEvan Fournier (Probable); Aaron Gordon (Probable); Jonathan Isaac (Out)
Philadelphia 76ersJustin Anderson (Doubtful); Robert Covington (Questionable); Joel Embiid (Out)
Portland Trail BlazersMeyers Leonard (Probable); Damian Lillard (Questionable); Noah Vonleh (Probable)
San Antonio SpursRudy Gay (Out); Danny Green (Probable); Kawhi Leonard (Probable)
Utah JazzRaul Neto (Out)

The big takeaways from these notes are that Stephen Curry is targeting a return on Saturday but will likely have a minutes limit if he does suit up. The Heat continue to be shorthanded as well. Joel Embiid is resting, which is good news on the other side for Nikola Jokic. Lastly, we’ll need to monitor Damian Lillard news. The downside is the Portland game tips off 30 minutes after lock, so let’s hope we get some updates. For this article, I am going to treat it as if Lillard may play, which means I am not going to consider C.J. McCollum or Shabazz Napier as core plays. If Lillard does get ruled out, I will update the article accordingly and place them as core plays if the slate dictates it.
