DSFC Preview Part 1: The Finalists

The first ever live Vegas finale for DraftStreet is going down this weekend at Bally’s with $100,000 to the champion. Another six figures will be earned by one of the 20 finalists and RG is here to break down how they all got there. Earning a seat at the DSFC 2012 main event is impressive enough, but each one of these qualifiers will be hungry to take down life-altering cash. So with just 6 days separating us from our second live Vegas event in a week, we have the full preview of who was talented enough to qualify.

The Qualifiers

Before we list out all of the qualifiers, here are a few fun facts about the 20 players and the teams they used to advance to Vegas this weekend:

1) Only 4 of the 20 qualifiers had a Quarterback as their highest scoring player
2) Only 2 of the 20 qualifiers had a Tight End as their highest scoring player
3) Doug Martin was the player most often seen on the winning teams, being taken on 5 of the 20 qualifiers squads.
4) In four of the ten weeks of qualifying, the highest scoring player was different on the lower buy-in and higher buy-in qualifiers lineups.
5) Bryce Brown was the highest scoring player on every qualifier for the final two weeks (Weeks 12 and 13)
6) A.J. Green was only on one DSFC Qualifiers squad, despite being taken by 50% of the FFFC Qualifiers
7) The average score of a DSFC Qualifier was 189. The average for the FFFC Qualifiers was 181
8) The highest score for a DSFC Qualifier was 221
9) The lowest score for a DSFC Qualifier was 164

Roster Trends

As many of you know, the style of play is much different on DraftStreet than FanDuel. The salary structure makes it more difficult to build a stacked team every week and you definitely need to hit on some deep sleepers if you want to have a shot. All of these qualifiers dug through the bargain bins and pulled out gold on their way to qualify. This also led to much more variance in the player selection than you saw with the FFFC.

As I mentioned above, the FFFC qualifiers took A.J. Green 50% of the time. In the DSFC Qualifiers, Green was only used once. That’s just one example though, so take a look at which players most often propelled DSFC qualifiers to Vegas:
