MLB Daily Grind Down: April 3 - Page 3

One of my favorite things about daily fantasy baseball is that a couple times a week, the games start during the day which is a great way to pass the time at work. There are 3 early games on the schedule and then quite a few night games as well. Today’s Grind Down shows the pitchers and batters that you need to be taking:

San Diego
- Clayton Richard is the tale of two tapes. At home he is a really solid pitcher, on the road, he just can’t seem to get it together. He is faced with the latter today.
- The Padres offense could be in trouble today against Harvey. Don’t waste your salary on them.
New York
- Matt Harvey had an impressive rookie season and is one of the better pitcher picks today. He has a great matchup against the Padres, is pitching in a pitchers park, and is a guy that gets a lot of strikeouts.
- David Wright is the player I’m looking at today for the Mets. He was .320 against lefties last season and got off to a very nice start the other day.

Colorado
- Juan Nicasio is a guy that can get a lot of strikeouts, but more often than not, he ends up losing his cool and giving up a bunch of runs. Don’t trust him on the road today.
- I love the Brewer’s bats once again today. Norichika Aoki could be a solid sleeper pick, Rickie Weeks has put together a couple good games, Ryan Braun homered yesterday, and Aramis Ramirez is off to a nice start. I like all of them today.
Milwaukee
- Wily Peralta is a good young pitcher, but so far, neither Gallardo or Estrada were able to slow down the Rockies bats and I don’t think Peralta will be able to either. Focus on the hitters in this one.
- For the Rockies, Cargo and Tulo have both homered in back to back games and there is no reason that they can’t swinging the bats hot against Peralta.

St. Louis
- Lance Lynn had an excellent season last year for the Cardinals but has a tough matchup today in Arizona. Pitchers never tend to fare well in Arizona and while I think he will get a decent number of strikeouts, he will give up some runs as well.
- Even though Matt Holliday is 0/4 against McCarthy, the sample is too small to really matter. I think he has another good game tonight. I also like Allen Craig price on a lot of sites, he is going to be expensive here soon.
Arizona
- Brandon McCarthy makes his D-Back debut and they are really hoping for a nice season from him. He is a guy that always pitches well at home, unfortunately his home is now in Arizona. There are better options out there.
- For Arizona, they have a lot of hitters that play well at home, but I’m just not sure who to take. Aaron Hill is probably the guy to target.

Seattle
- Joe Saunders is not a guy that you want on your fantasy team. He doesn’t get many strikeouts and should be ignored today.
- The line on this game is pretty low and the fact that Oakland is favored doesn’t bode well for the Mariners hitters. Michael Morse could be an option if you are looking for a guy with big upside.
Oakland
- Tommy Milone is a guy that pitches great at home and bad on the road. Luckily for us, he is at home today which is good news. He also faces a Mariners team that is still average offensively. I think he picks up the win.
- I love Yoenis Cespedes today against Saunders. Not only does he already have a homer off of him, but he is good against lefties and can steal bases as well.

San Francisco
- Tim Lincecum is looking to have a bounce back year and he gets to start it off against a team that he has had great success against. Looking at the BvP, you can see that none of the Dodger hitters have many good at bats against him. He is still a wild card though so take him with caution.
- With so many games that could be high scoring, I wouldn’t bother too much with this one.
Los Angeles
- Josh Beckett is in the same boat as Lincecum, looking to bounce back after a down year. He pitched pretty well for the Dodgers last season, especially when they were at home. I actually think he is a really good pick tonight.
- Lincecum has great numbers against all the batters from LA, but you never know with Lincecum. I think I will use Matt Kemp in a few places just because of how cheap he is.
