MLB Daily Grind Down June 8th Night Games

The RotoGrinders MLB Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the MLB schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit.
While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy baseball, there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, weather, and salaries. The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. No sport has more variance than baseball. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time. (any fp listed uses Fanduel’s scoring system)
When I looked at the way Friday was shaping up, I knew that a big name was going to take down the Q on Fanduel. With 3 rainouts and myriad of aces going, It was a tricky day. The advantage was given to the more skilled players. There are few more skilled than headchopper. I think he might be the first person to have qualified for all 3 championships on Fanduel and he is a fellow Houston boy so I have to love that. He lives in San Antonio now but we will not hold that against him. Never fear. There are plenty of Qs left for us to win because he cannot win them all. Though, he is coming close. Here is today’s Daily Grind Down to get your research started.

Pitchers
- Home I really like Clay Buchholz tonight because doubleheaders normally have a great deal of bench players in them. LAA rolled out there regular starting LU minus Ianetta so my bet is one of the big bats will sit the second game like. Even without that, Clay is a perfect 8-0 on the year and has been fantastic at home. LAA is batting .240 on the road, .272 versus right-handers, and .239 over the last 7 days. They rank 14th in runs scored and have recorded the 8th fewest Ks. Target
- Away C.J. Wilson has a 4.84 road ERA does not bode well for him versus the leagues highest scoring team. Although over the last 3 season, he has been a 3.44 pitcher in Fenway Park. He is pitching well and is in play in a GPP BOS is batting .277 at home, .249 versus left-handers, and .341 over the last 7 days. The rank 1st in runs scored and have recorded the 4th most Ks.
Batters
- Home Dustin Pedrioa is batting .380 versus left-handers and .368 at home. He is 7-15 with 1 HR versus Wilson. Jose Iglesias and Mike Napoli are two other right handed bats that have been hot lately.
- Away Albert Pujols is 4-6 with1 HR versus Clay. Mike Trout is 2-6 with1 HR. Howie Kendrick is 5-18 with 1 HR

Pitchers
- Home How does taking a pitcher coming off the DL with a 6.56 home ERA sound to you? If you like the way that rings then Jeff Francis is the man for you. SDG is batting .254 on the road, .251 versus right-handers, .277 over the last 7 days. Avoid
- Away Eric Stults has been surprisingly good on the year. I wouldn’t play him here in COL but I am also not sure I would take a COL stack either. Although, I will be playing some COL stacks just not with confidence. COL is batting .280 at home, .264 versus left-handers, and .294 over the last 7 days. Avoid
Batters
- Home The OU is 11 so everyone is playable. Keep your eye out for Carlos Gonzalez who rolled his ankle and might not go today. Troy Tulowitzki ‘s .398 home average and .305 average versus right-handers make him playable either way.
- Away I like the way you work it. No Diggity….I got to stack it up. Chase Headley ‘s 7-19 with 1 HR is playable either way.

Pitchers
- Home Mat Latos numbers take a slight dip in home games and day games but both ERAs are still very playable. His got a nice LU behind him but the OU is a little high and STL is a good road team. STL is batting .269 on the road, .290 versus right-handers, and .320 over the last 7 days with 10 HRs. They rank 4th in runs scored and have recorded the 9th fewest Ks. In Play
- Away Tyler Lyons is producing but seems to be limited to a pitch count of around 80 and has limited K/9 upside. I do not see much reward in gambling on him today versus a CIN team that is great at home. CIN is batting .263 at home, .259 versus left-handers, and .231 over the last 7 days. They rank 9th in runs scored and have recorded 8th most Ks Avoid
Batters
- Home Brandon Phillips and Derrick Robinson are both batting over .300 versus left-handers. Jay Bruce and Joey Votto ‘s numbers are not awful versus left-handers either. This is a young pitcher we are talking about so consider everyone playable.
- Away STL has a .311 BAA versus Latos. The most impressive numbers are Carlos Beltran ‘s 4-14 with 3 HRs. Carpenter, Craig, Freese, Holliday, Jay and Molina all have positive BvPs as well. STL has been very hot as a team so all of their starters are hot as well. Matt carpenter has been the hottest with 32 fp over the last 7 days. He is also batting .354 versus right-handers. Yadier Molina is batting .264 versus right-handers.

Pitchers
- Home Ervin Santana versus HOU is an instant target. There is nothing bad that I can say about him. Overlay is a huge concern here because of the limited number of starters. HOU is batting .256 on the road, .237 versus right-handers, and .238 over the last 7 days. The rank 18th in runs scored and have the most Ks in the league. Target
- Away Erik Bedard has given up 2 ER or less in his last 6 starts. I am not suggesting you take him but he is pitching well enough to take notice. KAN is batting .252 at home, .275 versus left-handers, and .246 over the last 7 days. The rank 25th in runs scored and have recorded the 2nd least Ks. Avoid
Batters
- Home Alex Gordan has the teams best batting average versus left-handers at .395. I like him because his priced has dropped. I also like the right-handed big bats of Jeff Francoeur and Billy Buttler. Buttler is hot with 20.25 fp over the last week and Francoeur is 3-7 with 1 HR versus Bedard.
- Away I am hoping HOU can score some runs here but hope is the only reason I like any of them tonight.

| Note: Batter Splits Above Open in Pop Up Window | |||||||
Las Vegas
- OU 8.5
- Favored MIL -118
Pitchers
- Home Tom Gorzelanny has been great in the bullpen this year. He is making a spot today. Best case scenario, He is limited to 80 pitches. Worse case scenario, he is done after 3 no matter how well he pitches. There is no upside in playing him even though he gets a nice amount of Ks. PHI is batting .246 on the road, .242 versus left-handers, .263 over the last 7 days. They rank 22nd in runs scored and have recorded the 15th most Ks. Avoid
- Away Kyle Kendrick 3.12 ERA and 1.19 WHIP are very good. He has been a 2.31 pitcher on the road and is facing a rookie. There is not much to dislike about him today but this is what I do not like about him. He has only given up less than 2 ER in 10 starts. He has only gone more than 7 IP in 2 of his 10 starts. He has only start in which he has gone more than 7 IP and given up less than 2 ER so he really has only had one outing that I would consider GPP worthy. It is a short night so he is playable. MIL is batting .264 at home, .246 versus rught-handers, and .262 over the last 7 days. Thet rank 21st in runs scored and have recorded the 13th fewest Ks. In Play
Batters
- Home Ryan Braun is 5-13 versus Kendrick but most of those numbers probably came when he was still roiding. Carlos Gomez, Ryan Braun, Jean Segura, and Aramis Ramirez are all batting over .300 at home.
- Away Jimmy Rollins is 5-12 with 2 2B versus Gorzelanny. Domonic Brown is red hot over the last 7 days with 44.25 fp. John Mayberry Jr, Eric Kratz, Delmon Young, and Ryan Howard are all hot as well.
