MLB Daily Grind Down May 4th Night Games

The RotoGrinders MLB Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the MLB schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit.
While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy baseball, there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, weather, and salaries. The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. No sport has more variance than baseball. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.
Well I dreamed last night that I won the DFBC. It did not come true but there is always tonight. There are only * games on the slate for this evening so beware of overlay. At least, there is not only one good option at pitcher going tonight. I hope your morning action was profitable. Here is tonight’s Grind Down to get you ready for the second half of Saturday.

- OU 7.5
- Favored PHI -220
Pitchers
- Home If you need me to convince you to take Cole Hamels today then stop playing daily fantasy. Target
- Away Jose Fernandez is still only throwing about 80 pitches a game. Even though he is pitching okay, there is no upside in playing a guy who might not make it 5 IP and probably will not get you the win even if he does. Avoid
Batters
- Home Ryan Howard has been on a nice little run and he gains the splits in his favor today. Chase Utley gets those same splits and Domonic Brown has bee on producing 26.5 fp over the last week.
- Away If you are playing the fade then do so at your own discretion because there are no numbers that support any MIA player. Good Luck.
NY Mets at Atlanta

| Jonathon Niese – (2-2), 3.31 ERA, 4.75 K/9, 1.47 WHIP | Julio Teheran – (1-0), 5.08 ERA, 6.41 K/9, 1.66 WHIP | ||||||

Las Vegas
- OU 8
- Favored ATL -135
Pitchers
- Home Julio Teheran has settle down in his last two starts. He is the solid favorite today but his 1.66 still worries me. He catches the Mets at the right time because they have been cold as of late. NYM is batting .257 on the road, .237 vs right-handers, and .195 over the last 7 days. In Play
- Away Jonathan Niese only tow bad starts of the season have been his two start on the road. His BvPs versus ATL are not favorable but he catches ATL at the right time. ATL is batting .235 at home, .238 vs. left-handers and .215 over the last 7 days. In Play
Batters
- Home Chris Johnson is in play every time you see a left-hander. He is batting .448 vs. them. Justin Upton has phenomenal BvPs today. He has cooled off but is still the Braves hottest player with 14.5 fp.
- Away David Wright has an HR in 2 AB versus Teheran. Wright and John Buck are the only two Mets producing. Teheran has struggled to get out left-handed bats. Left-handers have a .426 BAA vs. him so Lucas Duda, Ike Davis, and Daniel Murphey are in play today.
Detroit at Houston
| Detroit | Houston | ||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minute Maid Park | 7:10 PM | ||||||
| Max Scherzer – (3-0), 4.02 ERA, 13.31 K/9, 1.15 WHIP | Lucas Harrell – (3-2), 3.6 ERA, 6.17 K/9, 1.54 WHIP | ||||||
| PvB | (3-14 H/AB) 0.214 BA-A, 0.43 K%, 0.643 OPS-A | PvB | (11-27 H/AB) 0.407 BA-A, 0.11 K%, 1.037 OPS-A | ||||
| ROAD | (0-0), 1.29 ERA, 0 HRA, 14.8 K/9, 0.929 WHIP | HOME | (2-2), 4.7 ERA, 4 HRA, 5.9 K/9, 1.652 WHIP | ||||
| BATTER SPLITS BREAKDOWN | |||||||
DET BvP | DET vs R | HOU BvP | HOU vs R | ||||
| Note: Batter Splits Above Open in Pop Up Window | |||||||
Pitchers
- Home Lucas Harrell is the one Astro you can consider starting as a pitcher. In his 6 starts, he has given up only 1 ER in 4 of them. His last start was in NYY and held them to 1 ER in 6.1. DET is a tough opponent. DET is batting .239 on the road, .273 vs right-handers, and .294 over the last 7 days. The BvPs favor them also with a .407 BAA versus Harrell
- Away If you do not know that Max Scherzer is a good play tonight then I cannot help you. Target
Batters
- Home Like my counterpart says, “If you play on a site that gives you point for your players striking out then load up on Astros. If you play on a real fantasy site then just stay away.”
- Away You might find this hard to believe but Miguel Cabrera, Tori Hunter, and Austin Jackson all have higher batting averages versus right-handers than Prince Fielder does. The OU is pretty high but I am not convinced that DET rolls over Harrell so use them sparingly even though they have been hot
