What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: My first takeaway from this slate is that it is very different depending on which site you’re playing on. I think the go-to build on DK is cheaper pitching with heavy chalk on Arizona, but there are plenty of great spend-up pivots if you still want to go cheap at pitcher, which is my preference. On FD, the pitching salaries are less of an issue, so I’m spending up more there and loading up on mid-tier bats. If you’re willing to fade Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte (along with Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani as their pivots), you can play almost anything you want while still getting Framber Valdez. On both sites, my preference is single-entry and smaller-field tournaments, where we should see a much clearer edge to fading Arizona stacks.
stevietpfl: With the lack of pitching options I like, I will be focusing on single-entry contests. I’ll make 3-5 teams, focusing on Framber Valdez, Jacob deGrom, Noah Cameron, and Hurston Waldrep. Outside of the Diamondbacks, I don’t expect any other offense to be major chalk. When playing Arizona stacks, I’ll look for lower-owned secondary stacks and lower-owned one-offs.
boggslite: Large-field tournaments – As much as I would love to pay up for the relative safety of Framber Valdez and Jacob deGrom tonight, I will likely look to cheaper options with high strikeout potential in order to load up on bats. Yusei Kikuchi, Charlie Morton, and Jack Perkins are guys that profile as high-risk, high-reward options for me, especially in tournaments. I won’t be fading Arizona tonight even with their watered-down lineup, but I will also get some exposure to the Rockies, Tigers, and Angels/A’s in the event that Arizona doesn’t score enough runs to break the slate.
Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field contests. When considering skill set and matchup, I think Framber Valdez is in his own tier, so I’m planning on being well over the field on him. My expectation is to not completely ignore Arizona in Coors, but I’m more likely to use them in a 3-3-2 type of stack, as there are so many teams I want a piece of. I don’t play a ton of lineups, but if I theoretically was, I’d lean into the extremes of the LAA/ATH game and be over the field on both the starting pitchers and the offenses.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
