What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I prefer single-entry and smaller-field contests tonight. We should have very clear ways to get different in tournaments at pitcher, particularly on DK, where Luis Castillo is going to be chalky, and any lineups without either Tarik Skubal or Castillo will immediately be different from the field. My problem with MME tonight is that I can’t find anything that I love with a clear ownership edge, and I don’t like enough different spots to want to just spread out all over the place. In smaller fields, where you don’t have to find the one completely random team that goes nuts, I can stick with my primary pool of Yankees, Padres, A’s, Brewers, and Twins, with just a few individual spend-up bats sprinkled around them.

boggslite: Large-field tournaments – I would love to lock in and build around Tarik Skubal in all my lineups, but his salary makes it prohibitive in some cases, so I will likely only have him paired with the cheaper stacks I’m targeting. Luis Castillo immediately jumps off the page with his great home matchup and attractive price. I won’t be fading him and will instead look to differentiate my lineups elsewhere. The Yankees are my top overall stack, but I will also have exposure to the Red Sox, Padres, A’s, and Mariners.

Dean78904: I focus mostly on single-entry and smaller-field type of contests. I have pretty clear lines as far as who is and isn’t in my SP bucket, and they are all over the place as far as salary. I’ll likely stick to just Tarik Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Luis Castillo, Jacob deGrom, and Sandy Alcantara in the few lineups I make. I like some offenses (e.g. Yankees, Padres, A’s), but I don’t officially love any, and I’m unafraid to fade any of them in a particular lineup. I wish the weather was expected to be a little more hitter-friendly, but I’m really tempted to unleash a full Boston stack in single-entry contests and be on my own single-entry island.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

CheeseIsGood: Hunter Goodman – I don’t have much interest in stacking the Rockies, but I will always look to pick out some right-handed power against JP Sears. Because of how bad the Rockies are, a 30-HR season with a .280 batting average for Goodman has sort of flown under the radar. This guy is just plain good. And if you’re worried about the Coors Field factor skewing those numbers, 17 of his 30 HRs have come on the road. With Sears throwing strikes and allowing a .241 ISO to righties, I’ll be playing Goodman early and often on both sites.
