MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, September 15
How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: It’s disappointing to see that Tarik Skubal and Griffin Canning are likely to be the chalk, but we still have a big enough group of good pitchers to spread out ownership enough that I’m just playing my favorites and not worrying about it. Along with Skubal and Canning, I’ll have a little Seth Lugo and Hunter Greene, with David Peterson on the cheaper side. There is nothing sneaky about any of that, but I’d rather overthink the hitting side. I’m willing to go underweight on the Giants and Twins, using the Minnesota bats more as one-offs around less chalky stacks and using different parts of the Giants’ batting order for mini stacks with their righties. My primary offense is going to be Houston, and then I will jump down to an upside trio of the Mets, Cubs, and Rangers.
STLCardinals84: There are a lot of offenses to like, and there’s not much to spend up for on the pitching side. I’ll keep an eye out for top-end offenses that are going to check in with lower ownership. If teams like the Giants and Twins are going to be the chalk, I like pivoting to the Padres against Oakland’s woeful pitching staff. Perhaps things will be spread out enough to where we don’t have to worry about ownership much at all. I also don’t mind throwing darts at some cheaper pitchers in upside matchups, like David Peterson against the Reds.
boggslite: With several quality pitching options at various price points, my priority will be building around my hitters and then filling out my SP rather than jamming in high-priced pitchers. My favorite options are Tarik Skubal and Griffin Canning with their respective matchups, but if I can afford Justin Steele or Aaron Nola, I won’t hesitate using them either with their ability to have great outings.
TastefulTides: I am ignoring the top four most expensive pitchers on both FD and DK. That is where I plan on getting to Tarik Skubal in my primary single-entry team. The mid-range is where I want to live for SP2. There are so many good stacks that I don’t want to overpay for pitching. The Astros and Giants are going to be popular, but they are far and away the best plays. If I can’t get to a full stack of those teams, then I plan on getting exposure to the Twins, who are very affordable across the industry.
TJ Zwarych: Pitching is strong in the mid-range, and that’s mostly where I’ll be sticking to. Tarik Skubal and Hunter Greene are my two favorites, but I’ll be heavily overweight on Logan Webb, Brayan Bello, David Peterson, and Bobby Miller too. The Twins, Astros, and Giants are my favorite stacks by a fairly wide margin, so I’ll be mixing-and-matching those full stacks with the above pitchers in MME.
