Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS picks

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the April 24, 2026 MLB DFS slate.

Happy Friday! We have one of the biggest slates of the season, with a 13-game DK slate and a slightly different 11-game slate on FD. The FD slate is starting 25 minutes early at 6:40 PM ET to add one additional game (DET/CIN), but they are ending their slate early to cut off the last 3 games of the night (SEA/STL, CHC/LAD, MIA/SF).

On both sites, on both the pitching and hitting sides, we have wildly deep and unclear top tiers. I am going to do my best to get to a narrowed-down pool, but this is one of those slates that looks very dart-throwy from all angles. Let’s look for the best darts we can find!

Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

Skenes of the Pirates

We have 10 very good pitchers on DK priced from $10,000 down to $8,300, while on FD, it’s 9 good pitchers from $10,600 down to $8,500. I’ll tell you before we even start that I’m about to type a bunch of words to basically say it’s a 10-way tie, so I hope you enjoy it!

TOP TIER PITCHING

Well, ugh. This is just a huge, tangled mess of good pitchers. I don’t immediately see any clear way to break this up and find one or two best options. We can try to sort them into ‘safer’ vs. ‘higher upside’ options, but even then, the list is not super clear when we add in some of the early-season numbers.

I guess I’ll say the thing that stood out to me first is Freddy Peralta having just the 8th-highest salary on FD and the 7th-highest salary on DK at home against the Rockies. The problem here is that he has looked kind of like the old inefficient Peralta in his last few starts, struggling to find the strike zone and taking way too many pitches to get through an inning. If we take what he’s done through 5 starts and average in the last couple seasons, I think it’s most likely that he is something in the range of a 26-27% K rate with borderline control that is going to come and go. He definitely falls into that ‘higher upside with risk’ category for me, but I think the risk is very much priced in. Tentatively, he’s my SP1 with salary considered, but let’s see what happens from here.
