Million Dollar Musings: Friday, August 11

CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Friday! We have got ourselves a good old-fashioned barn burner tonight. We’ve got spend-up aces, quality mid-tier options, and a chalk pitcher with a 6.11 ERA. On the hitting side, I can sort of find a top tier, but even that has at least eight offenses, followed by another dozen or so with a case to be made for slate-winning upside. I’ll do what I can to find some favorites for you, but this is a slate loaded with strong MLB DFS picks all over the place.
Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

We are loaded up with aces, or something close to aces, in the $9-$11k range:
TOP TIER PITCHING
Corbin Burnes at White Sox – 25% K, 8.9% BB, 3.42 ERA, 4.12 SIERA
Blake Snell at Diamondbacks – 31.3% K, 13.7% BB, 2.61 ERA, 4.11 SIERA
Luis Castillo vs. Orioles – 27.9% K, 6.1% BB, 3.21 ERA, 3.54 SIERA
Justin Verlander vs. Angels – 20.5% K, 8% BB, 3.11 ERA, 4.63 SIERA
Lance Lynn vs. Rockies – 26.8% K, 8.2% BB, 6.11 ERA, 3.91 SIERA
Andrew Abbott at Pirates – 25.9% K, 9.4% BB, 2.93 ERA, 4.41 SIERA
Charlie Morton at Mets – 24.3% K, 10.7% BB, 3.86 ERA, 4.41 SIERA
Jose Berrios vs. Cubs – 23% K, 7.1% BB, 3.38 ERA, 4.17 SIERA

The strikeout potential is always elite for Blake Snell, with 100+ pitches regularly on top of it, so theoretically, no one has a higher ceiling than Snell. But goodness gracious this guy is off the rails with his control. He has walked at least 4 batters in four straight starts and at least 3 batters in seven straight. All told, we’re looking at an absurd 18.5% walk rate since the start of July. Cut. It. Out.
Even though the strikeouts have dipped back down after a brief uptick for Corbin Burnes, I will still play him ahead of Snell with no hesitation. The bigger questions to me are whether we need to play anyone over $10k on this slate, and if so, is it Burnes or Luis Castillo?
