Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks for Saturday, April 6th
CheeseIsGood, a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Saturday! We’ve got a split slate kind of day, with the main slate aligning on both sites as an 8-game slate at 7:05pm ET. This is also going to be our first Coors Slate of the year, although the early weather report implies there is some chance that game doesn’t happen due to some goofy winds. We’ll obviously need to keep an eye on that before firming up any lineups for the evening slate.
I’ll start with a look at the early 7-game slate on DK, which starts at 1:10pm ET.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto was closer to expectations in his 2nd start after a poor start to his MLB career. In his second outing, he went 5 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts and no walks. That is the type of pitcher I expect him to be, with good control and moderate but not great strikeouts. If he in fact turns into that type of pitcher, then his DFS relevance will all come down to salary and matchup. Today, he is the most expensive pitcher on the board, and he’s facing one of the league’s better offenses. He’s certainly playable, but I’m not enthusiastic about this.
I love Joe Ryan in general, but much like we saw with his teammate Pablo Lopez, Cleveland is just not a good matchup for him. He gets the majority of his strikeouts against righties, and Cleveland can send up all lefties with good contact against him. I feel similarly here to Yamamoto. He should be fine but unlikely to give you any kind of must-have score at $9,200.
When we start looking cheaper, we get lower quality pitchers, but some better matchups.
