Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks for Wednesday, August 28th
CheeseIsGood, a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Wednesday! We’ve got a couple games spread randomly throughout the day, which leaves us with just an 8-game main slate on DK and a 7-game main slate on FD (no TEX/CWS), both starting at the usual 7:10 PM ET.
I’m going to say that we need to keep an eye on Game 2 of the TEX/CWS matchup. They are starting Game 1 at 5:10 PM ET, which means it won’t be over before the slate locks. I wouldn’t be stunned if DK decides to remove that 2nd game from their slate at some point, but for now, I am including it as if it’s part of the slate. Assuming that game remains in the mix, we will have to stay up to date on our MLB starting lineups page after lock for the lineups.

Wednesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
This is a weird and tricky pitching slate. We have one surefire ace who is priced way up and then one more ace at a discount who appears likely to be chalk. From there, it’s just a huge tangle of OK pitchers in tougher matchups. I’ll split things up into two tiers, using DK pricing as a guide with a $7,500 cutoff point.
TOP TIER PITCHING
Chris Sale at Twins – 32.7% K, 5.7% BB, 2.62 ERA, 2.74 SIERA
Freddy Peralta vs. Giants – 27.6% K, 8.9% BB, 3.86 ERA, 3.73 SIERA
Corbin Burnes at Dodgers – 22.5% K, 6.2% BB, 3.28 ERA, 3.83 SIERA
Joe Musgrove at Cardinals – 22.2% K, 6.7% BB, 4.43 ERA, 3.98 SIERA
Eduardo Rodriguez vs. Mets – 16.2% K, 5.9% BB, 3.94 ERA, 4.65 SIERA
Kyle Harrison at Brewers – 21.8% K, 7.7% BB, 4.00 ERA, 4.20 SIERA
Chris Bassitt at Red Sox – 22.2% K, 8.9% BB, 4.41 ERA, 4.28 SIERA
Brayan Bello vs. Blue Jays – 21.6% K, 9% BB, 4.95 ERA, 4.14 SIERA
This is an extremely tough pitching slate, and it starts up top where the one and only elite, consistent pitcher is $11,000 on DK and $11,500 on FD. As great as Chris Sale is, it takes a lot to be worth that salary in a fairly tough matchup. Without salary considered, he is my SP1, and I would gladly play him in any lineup on any site. But in reality, there’s very little chance that he ends up as the top points-per-dollar pitcher, and so it’s going to come down to how much salary you need for bats. My initial lean is to be underweight on Sale, but let’s dig into these cheaper pitchers to see if there is enough to like to make that happen.
