Million Dollar Musings: Wednesday, August 30

CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Split Slate Wednesday! We’ve got a busy day of baseball with multiple slates throughout the day. I’ll focus on the 6-game main slate that starts a little earlier than usual at 6:40 PM ET. But first, I’ll take a peek at the early 9-game DK slate which starts at 1:05 PM ET. FD has split those first 9 games into two different slates, and I’ll add some notes about those differences in the Cliff Notes.
No time for dillydallying here. Let’s dive right in and see what we have in the way of MLB DFS picks for this busy Wednesday.
Wednesday Early Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

We’ve got a deep pitching pool. The pricing is all close enough that I’ll lump these 12 pitchers together into something like a top tier:
Brandon Woodruff at Cubs – 31.8% K, 7% BB, 2.65 ERA, 3.32 SIERA
Logan Webb vs. Reds – 23.6% K, 3.9% BB, 3.51 ERA, 3.22 SIERA
Framber Valdez at Red Sox – 24.3% K, 6.6% BB, 3.40 ERA, 3.68 SIERA
Sonny Gray vs. Guardians – 24.3% K, 8.1% BB, 3.06 ERA, 4.04 SIERA
Dylan Cease at Orioles – 26.5% K, 10.7% BB, 4.81 ERA, 4.26 SIERA
Tanner Bibee at Twins – 23.6% K, 7.5% BB, 3.01 ERA, 4.23 SIERA
Bryce Miller vs. A’s – 23.3% K, 5.1% BB, 3.90 ERA, 4.14 SIERA
Hunter Greene at Giants – 29.8% K, 10.7% BB, 5.06 ERA, 3.96 SIERA
Kyle Gibson vs. White Sox – 20.1% K, 6.9% BB, 4.89 ERA, 4.32 SIERA
Reid Detmers at Phillies – 26.5% K, 9.5% BB, 5.03 ERA, 4.14 SIERA
Chris Bassitt vs. Nationals – 22.4% K, 7.7% BB, 4.00 ERA, 4.36 SIERA
Cristopher Sanchez vs. Angels – 22.9% K, 4.3% BB, 3.33 ERA, 3.53 SIERA

OK, this is a lot of good pitching. The good news is that nobody is really priced up on DK, so it’s close to ‘play whoever you want,’ at least for an SP1.
Brandon Woodruff looks to be back at full strength after an 11-strikeout, 107-pitch outing last week. Any matchup downgrade he’d get from facing the Cubs is made up for with outstanding pitching weather in Wrigley. He is my SP1.
Framber Valdez always has the ability to fly through easy innings against anyone, but his strikeouts are back down, and I’m going to pass on him in this matchup. Dylan Cease is also going to be a pass for me with his wonky control issues sneaking back in and a tough matchup for his lower strikeouts against lefties.
