Happy Wednesday! Well y’all, I don’t know why we didn’t think of this sooner, but it’s pretty easy to figure out how to fade the chalk and win. Just get two of the top bats from the chalky stack thrown out of the game before their 1st at-bat…and problem solved! There’s really nothing to it.

With German Marquez and his 6.14 ERA on the mound tonight, the Giants will be a scary fade, but there is a ton of offense to love on this slate, so I think you can get there if you want. The pitching looks a bit trickier, but we’ll see what we can find.

There are a few Yellows in the MLB weather report, but for now, I’m assuming everything is good to go. Like last night, be sure to note the later than usual start time of 7:35 PM ET.

Wednesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

Kirby of the Mariners

We have just two pitchers at $9,000 or above on DK and a third on FD before we quickly get into the realm of salary savers. My initial thought is that this is a night to go with cheaper pitchers, but let’s dig and see what we find.

TOP TIER DUO

In general, I’m still on board with Robbie Ray. However, even if we ignore the last couple of starts, his 2025 skill set has not been the kind of thing you’d want at Coors Field. I’d actually prefer the old Robbie Ray, where you could hope for 12 strikeouts in a best-case scenario to outweigh the downside risk. There are several issues here, most notably being that the one thing the Rockies still have is righty power. They are also not as extreme of a strikeout team against LHP, so not only do we need Ray to have his best control, we also need good luck on his fly balls. All of this put together has me very down on Ray tonight, unless for some reason he falls completely off the radar in terms of projected ownership. I don’t think he’ll be chalk, but with only two spend-up options, he’s going to get played. He is not making it into my primary pool and is just a deep MME leftover for me.

George Kirby is the SP1 if salary doesn’t matter, but this is not a guy who is ever likely to post a have-to-have-it score. He’s a slightly above-average strikeout pitcher, and this is a lower-strikeout matchup with moderate power risk added due to Kirby getting a ballpark downgrade. I’m always comfortable with Kirby in any lineup, but let’s wait and see what values we find before deciding if we need to spend up.

MID-TIER AND BEYOND

Phillies pitcher Nola

Cade Horton and Zebby Matthews are sort of on the expensive side, particularly with Matthews on FD.

We know Zebby Matthews has strikeout ability, but it’s been tailing off a bit, while the White Sox just keep hitting. There is no pitch-count issue with Matthews, but there is still an efficiency issue more often than not, and the White Sox still have a lot of patient hitters in their lineup that will make him work. For pure upside, he’s still my favorite pitcher on this slate, but I can’t say that it looks likely to see any sort of ceiling game here. Similar to how I feel about Kirby, he’s fine, and the price looks reasonable on DK, but let’s see what else we find.
